Shamrock Shake Still Available at Times Square McDonald's!

You'll recall how outraged we were last week when Jimmy Fallon handed out Shamrock Shakes to his entire studio audience, thereby depleting NYC's already imperiled supply of the minty frozen dessert beverage. Well, the thing is, now that McDonald's has delivered a big shipment of Shamrock Shakes to Gothamist HQ, we suddenly regret deriding Fallon as a privileged Hollywood insider who used his connections to 'rock-block average New Yorkers. Sometimes life isn't fair, which is fine as long as it's fair in our favor. Mmmm, entitlemint .

But don't worry if you lack the star power of a talk show host or a blogger, McDonald's is still selling Shamrock Shakes to the masses at their location at 1560 Broadway! We're told they'll probably run out today, so hustle. This is the first time the St. Patrick's Day-themed shake has appeared in NYC in years, and there's no guarantee we'll see it ever again in this region, DRAMA BUTTON!

I briefly thought about it while passing a McD's but there was a noticeable odor so I kept walking.

I had my first Shamrock Shake experience there on Monday night. It was a letdown.

I went with my mom to McD's before the theater, and I was ordering dinner, and I asked if they had the Shamrock Shake, they said yes. So I ordered a medium.

I'm waiting for my Shake, and they're having trouble with the machine. It just keeps spitting out vanilla. The manager is trying to fix the machine, and he opens up the bottom and I see the jug of green syrup, but it's not flowing up the machine and mixing with the vanilla. They keep trying to fix it, so I ask them if I can come back for it on the way out, and they say yeah.

So I eat my dinner, and stop by the register. The manager tries one more time to get it to come out green and it keeps coming out vanilla. I see him fiddle with the machine one more time, and all of a sudden, they hand me a green shake.I take one sip, and find out that it's just a vanilla shake that they poured some green syrup on top of.

Let's just say that's a little tooooo minty.

Your first mistake was going to a McDonalds for dinner. That is a one way ticket to diarrhea city on the fart superhighway.

What did you think they would do, muddle mint leaves and inject pure spearmint extract?

In related news, a 3 metric ton vat of genetically modified corn sludge renderings is missing from Indiana warehouse.

This isn't the *first time*, if by that you mean to report that the Times Square location is the shake's first sighting this Spring. McD's on West 71st/BWAY had them for a short time a few weeks back, as did the McD's on West 36th Street and 5th Avenue.

  • I went to the McD's at West 71 and Bway last Wednesday—St. Patrick's Day— and they didn't have them!

They'd "pulled it" at least a week and a half before then; good thing, because I bought one and got my money back: not the Shamrock I remember. It was a vanilla shake with nasty food coloring in it -- an AIM toothpaste mixture. Not minty flavor. Gross.
