Dwight Gooden Busted For DWI

2010_03_goodencard.jpg Former Met and Yankee Dwight Gooden was arrested yesterday for DWI after rear-ending a car. Apparently, he had a child in the car as well. Gooden was charged with being “Under the Influence of a Controlled Dangerous Substance, Endangering the Welfare of a Child, Driving While Under the Influence of Drugs, DWI with a Child Passenger, Leaving the Scene of a Motor Vehicle Accident, Reckless Driving, Failure to Keep Right and Failure to Notify Change of Address regarding driver's license” after getting into an accident at 8:50 a.m. yesterday.

Gooden was released after being charged and has not issued a statement. It’s just another sad turn in the former star's life. He had recently moved back to New Jersey to take a job with the Newark Bears and told the Star-Ledger, “I’ve got both feet on the ground now.”

Other side of river. Not a problem.

In his heyday he could drive drunk at nearly 94mph. These days he can barely get his speed up to 71.

This guy was one of the best Met player ever

What else is new with this former Met?

An alcoholic and drug addict with a history of relapse is caught driving while intoxicated? Shocking...

Ha, I thought the part after "another sad turn" was just going to end with a period after "recently moved back to New Jersey".

“I’ve got both feet on the ground now.”

    - meaning, he wasn't high at the time of the interview.

We gonna see Leandra's Law in action here?

  • jaycjay

Nope, because that's a NYS law and he was arrested in Jersey.

  • jaycjay

But after a more careful reading, NJ apparently has a similar law. "DWI with a child passenger" is among the listed charges.
