Paterson Calls Out Gillibrand For Throwing Him "Under The Bus"

31710gilly.jpg While on Don Imus' radio program this morning, Gov. Paterson took time out of his charm offensive to comment on Sen. Gillibrand, his hand-picked Senate appointee who called for his resignation earlier this month. "That's about whenever you get in a jam, there are people who will throw you under the bus...Whenever you watch a movie or whenever you read a book about someone that's in terrible...in a difficult situation, there are always those who do that...They just don't expect you to get out from under the bus. And when you do, they should be forewarned."

Paterson talked vaguely about the numerous scandals that have been plaguing him for the past couple weeks, though he did confirm that he doesn't go to baseball games for the view: "Even with binoculars at a baseball game, its really very hard to watch. So the only reason that I ever really go is for the issues around it." Asked whether he's talked to Gillibrand recently, he added, "It's hard to talk to anyone when you are under the bus."

It's not necessary to throw Paterson under a bus. Just wait for him to wander in front of one.

I came here to see if anyone would make that comment...and was not disappointed. Good show.

What, no short bus comment ?

At least he is under the front of the bus. Progress!

I don't like Patterson cause of all the nickel and dime takes he forwarded, but I do agree with him.

He went out on a limb and chose Gillibrand, and SHE calls for his resignation!

She seems like she's willing to do whatever the party tells her to hold on to that power. She's not to be trusted.

  • Spirit of 76

He he he. You chose her, Davey. You two deserve each other. But look on the bright side. She stands a good chance of losing the Senate seat at the next election, so you can then laugh at her misfortune.

Really? Who is she going to lose her seat to? Surely not any of the clods, losers, warhawks and teabaggers who have floated to the top so far.

It's not really accurate to say that Gillibrand called for Paterson's resignation earlier this month. What Gillibrand actually said was that if it was proved that Paterson was guilty of witness tampering, then -- and only then -- would he need to step down. She emphasized that Paterson was entitled to due process, just like everyone else. So perhaps Paterson was misinformed by the people who brief him, or by careless reporting that leaves out the "if and only if" clause of Gillibrand's statement.

Of course if he's convicted, then you would step down, because you were appointed by a crook.
