Peralta Defeats Monserrate For State Senate Seat

2009_09_monserratehl.jpg After a contentious, nasty battle, Democratic Assemblyman Jose Peralta won the special election for the 13th District in Queens, beating Hiram Monserrate. Monserrate was voted to the seat in 2008, but his colleagues voted to expel him last month after his October 2009 conviction of misdemeanor assault for slashing his girlfriend. With 66% of the precincts reporting, Peralta has 65.6% of the vote, Monserrate has 27.14% and Republican candidate Robert Beltrani got 7.21%.

    27.14%!? WTF

I believe it's time to change voting requirements.

  • aspiringrapper

Who are the idiots who did vote for this scumbag?

  • MT

One down. How many more to go?

  • soundfreak

The slasher is considering running for Peralta's vacant seat in the assembly.

Lost by more than 2 to 1. Too bad it wasn't an even bigger landslide. Monserrate deserves all the humiliation he gets.

Espada should be next in the voters' crosshairs. Too bad he'll probably win re-election.

Wow, Hiram beat this Robert Beltrami guy. What a blow to that guy's ego. "I can't even beat a guy who slashed his girlfriend and got expelled from the body in which he's trying to get re-elected!"

  • jjazznola

Who the hell are those 27.14 that voted for that moron?

  • Sommelier

Maybe he'll become a republican & get a job spreading lies on Fox!

  • justthinkin
