Something tells us this mural in Times Square isn't as controversial as some calling for its takedown may want it to be. Looseworld followed 26-year-old Puerto Rican artist Sofia Maldonado as she created the massive piece in a storefront—and from the first drops of paint to assembling it on the sidewalk, passerby seem to love it. Check out their videos after the jump—which include interviews with the Times Square Alliance, the artist, and of course the public. When asked what he thinks of the women in the mural, one of the men hired to paint the background declares, "Niiiiiiiiice."

The plywood that mural is painted on and scaffolding have been up for several years. What is taking so long for them to renovate that space?

Whether it's controversial is not a matter of opinion. What stooge came up with that poll?
Cannibal
Bottom line: this wouldn't be an issue if it was in the outer boroughs.

It's almost impossible to answer the question because of how you've worded it. What, exactly, are you trying to ask? Yes it's controversial. No, it's not degrading to women.
Also, "passerby" is singular. Don't get me started about commas.

I think I love you, Coco.
