Facebook Still Battling Breastfeeders

phpVrxrA6PM.jpg Looks like Facebook is still fighting against the breastfeeding masses, who maintain that those posting images of the act should not be banned. One woman, April, has now written an open letter to the company, and points out that there are plenty of boobs on the site that they're not threatening to ban—you know, the non-lactating ones attached to the likes of Megan Fox. Her public scrutiny comes after a recent threat from the company; she explains, "I finally tandem nursed my babies successfully for the first time. Facebook told me this picture was offensive. And warned me that they will delete my account if I continue to break the rules." Surely this can all be solved over a glass of Riesling and some breastmilk cheese.

not sure why this woman wants this photo to be viewed. just feed your kids and stop showing off.

  • MisterPlow

Wow, I had no idea new yorkers were such uptight wieners. 'Wah wah I saw a lady feeding a baby!!' You people are nuts.

  • Actually, my "weiner" gets very "uptight" when I see women's bare breasts.

  • shovel lover

    breast feeding: wonderful!

breast feeding in public: by all means!

breast feeding pics on facebook: who cares??!?

  • Roni

shocking as it is to people in this country, breasts were made to feed/nourish our babies. it is species specific milk. all mammals nurse their young with their own milk....except us humans. we give our babies cows milk, formula is based on cows milk. all those who have commented negatively about nursing in public or having photos of women nursing babies are just plain ignorant.

    BREAST IS BEST!!!

  • Spook

Thank you for the right wing creationist message grand-Mah. I Guess you also belive that sex was made for creating humans. I think its alot more complicated than that now.

No one is telling this women not to feed her babies, but to make a point of doing so publically is pointlessly fetishizing her children and her body. What's the point?

Breats are also a sexual symbol. Should people be able to post pictures of them having sex because its "just an act of creation?

*to make a point of doing so publically is pointlessly fetishizing her children and her body. What's the point?

    Breats*

spook. i would imagine you eat in public. so why should she have to feed her baby privately. breastfeeding is an normal, natural thing, why are people so opposed to seeing it? if you don't want to see it, don't look....i happen to think it is a beautiful thing, i love to see women nursing in public.there is absolutely nothing wrong with this....

oh...and breasts are spelled breasts, not brests...

  • Spook

Well sex is a natural and normal thing as well. And while I do not object to a woman breast feeding in public- as obnoxious as it may be- I think facebook should be concerned with the issue of children coming across these image with out parental supervision.

But let me put my cards on the table because this whole argument is nothing but a specious red herring.

Its clear that certain women are politicizing a common sense issue NOT because breast feeding is under attack by any stretch, but because of their own insecurities that American "motherhood" is under attack.

    And they are right.

More and more progressive women are refusing to be trapped by outdated male patriarchy propaganda about "biological clocks" and women not being women unless they have kids. And women like the above resent it but are too stupid to articulate it. So it becomes all about people not wanting to watch them suckle their pink little piggies.

  • Roni

    * think facebook should be concerned with the issue of children coming across these image with out parental supervision.*

that is an excellent point.....children should be exposed to seeing women nursing their babies....in the usa, dolls come with bottles, children grow up to think that is the norm. if they could see more women nursing, more photos of women nursing, it would again become the norm. children in other countries see women nursing all the time. maybe if more women nursed, the infant mortality rates in this country would be better...the usa is not even in the top 20 countries with low infant mortality rates.

breast milk for babies, cows milk for calves.

facebook is world wide....why they are so ignorant about nursing moms is just wrong.

if others don't want to see photos....don't look.

  • Spook

So should a man trying to create a child with his wife be allowed to post a picture of him doing giving it to her doggie style on face book?

  • ...only if his wife is really really hot

  • robingee

Men have sexualized breasts to the point where women are meant to feel ashamed for using breasts for their INTENDED USE. They loooove boobies unless they are not being used to satisfy male enjoyment. Then, ewwwwwwww! Guh-ROSS.

  • Over the River

I don't give a rat's butt about her boobs but it does bother me that she is contributing to the problem of over population.

  • BrokelynFaye

This chick just wants to show off her tatas because she didn't have any before she got pregnant. Here's a blog post she wrote during her pregnancy:

"Yup. Boobies. Breasts. Sweater meat. I got it.

Before you're tempted to feel offended, I feel the need to offer up the fact that I've lived quite happily for 27 years with my rather boyish figure. I gave up on push-up bras some time around the age of 17. Once that snow-ball got rolling it didn't stop: bras were out the window altogether by the time I finished college.

... as I've not really minded my rather plankish form, I have to say that my new beautiful ta-tas are not to be minded either. Here's why:

    1. They jiggle, for goodness sake, and that's just fun.

    2. From the side, I look like the letter B, but with legs and a head. And who doesn't like the letter B?

    3. I have a cute little freckle that looks quite fetching when it's sitting atop my massive cleavage.

... So if there's ever been something to feel joyful about, I think I'm there. Two babies in my belly and I've finally reached a full B cup... feels like heaven."

    She's obnoxious.

  • Spook

Jezzzz, this women sure went through a lot to show the world just how both stupid and vain she is via blogging. Now after reading that, the ta tas make her look even more ridiculous. I bet the husband is just as stupid not to mention the two pups draining more stupidity from those milky jugs of stupidity

  • jaycjay

The set of blog posts labeled "boobies" goes back to 2008. This is not a new obsession.

    http://eclecticeffervescence.blogspot.com/search/label/boobies

  • Hey, she's just happy she's got some titties now!

No wonder she wants to show off "the girls" on facebook (the babies are just an excuse!)

  • jaycjay
  • BrokelynFaye

Amiright? She's just psyched to have a rack after all these years.

  • matty

I'm suddenly hungry for cheese for some reason.

  • NannyState

All you'll get from this cow is Velveeta.

  • Al_Cool_Dates

Ahahaha, masterbate and bus a good one all over her jugs.

  • intrusivity

If I see a woman doing this in a park, I am going to start masturbating. It's only fair.

  • robingee

Yes, a lady feeding her children is a good excuse for you to be terrible. You probably don't need much of a reason...

  • laisla

I am curious how you managed to make your logic come to that conclusion. No pun intended.

  • Daniela

Put those puppies away! LOL! Facebook has a right to deny whatever photos they want, and WHY would you want the whole world to see that anyway????

  • snickerdoodle

Another mommy-boob exhibitionist who gets off titilating the masses and then feigns innocence and victimhood afterward when people are offended by her disgusting lack of manners and sense of decency.

Buy some class, ladies. This isn't National Geographic.

  • robingee

    Boobs in tight t-shirts GOOD.

    Boobs doing their jobs BAD.

  • Jen S

    Those babies are suffocating!!!

  • laisla

    Nope, they are all good.

  • increble_plum

"does she have room for one more hungry fella?"

    (see [5] | JacqueMehoff)

    HA!!

As much as I adore all the scathing remarks, you just can't beat lines like this.

Anyway, I'm so glad we live in a world where some woman's breastfeeding pics on Facebook is the biggest problem facing us.

  • Al_Cool_Dates

Give me titty, or give me death!!! But seriously, behind closed doors lady!

  • hotstepper

maybe lactating moms should spend more time raising their newborns instead of fucking around on Facebook.

  • laisla

Breastfeeding is raising your newborn. And since you are sitting in one place and doing it a lot, you apparently have time to get all over the internet. Makes sense to me.

  • JMH

Gah, nobody wants to see that.

  • Dirk

I get a little tired of theses narcissistic moms. But that being said, there's nothing wrong with breast-feeding.

However, I think the point should be made... Facebook is a private company. If they want to ban breast-feeding photos, its their right. If you don't like it, then don't use Facebook. Start your own website/blog.

  • shadowman

Although there is nothing wrong with breast feeding, women who bare their breasts in public must be closet exhibitionists. However, if you have gorgeous perfect breasts, it’s your patriotic duty to flaunt them.

  • 1stephanie

I'm guessing she's a stay-at-homer, since I can't imagine any lady would want to go back to work and know that her work friends saw her massive jugs. Parents don't stop to think that nobody finds their children as amazing as they do. They're pretty commonplace.

  • JenChungsBaby

Nice boobies. Now please shut your legs.

  • archangel_ist

She will probably breast feed the kids until they are 6years old & have them sleep in her bed till they are 10-11 & think nothing of it. i personally think women like this are attention wh**es & are creepy as hell.

WOMEN: THERE IS NOTHING SEXY OR NATURAL ABOUT BREASTFEEDING IN PUBLIC, HAVE SOME SELF RESPECT FOR YOURSELF, DO IT IN PRIVATE.

  • Spook

Come on look at that picture, clearly she's getting off. She's just pissed that facebook called her on it. Now she's gotta act all "indigent" to save face.

  • laisla

This weird, adult projection should be the number one reason women should breastfeed. I am beginning to think it'd be a public service.

  • laisla

    People are so prude.

  • Al_Cool_Dates

Oh brother, ladies as much as we appreciate you feeding the kids, keep it behind doors.

  • ides_of_march

I'm sure those kids will be thrilled when they get older and these photos start popping up for them to see.

Just because something is perfectly natural doesn't mean it's supposed to be flaunted everywhere. Yes, I know, modesty, discretion and decorum are such un-cool, quaint notions that only right-wing religious fanatics would subscribe to.

  • laisla

It's her facebook page! She can show whatever she wants. It slows less than my bikini photos on Facebook.

I guarantee women breastfeed around you all the time, and you have no idea. Done normally (you know, not totally naked), you can see nothing inappropriate. IT'S NOT A BIG DEAL. Promise.

  • lookatthedumbpeople

Actually, it's Facebook's page, and they don't want her putting those photos up, so she should stop doing it.

They're doing her kids a big favor since she clearly hasn't got any good sense of her own.

  • laisla

Fair enough. She should get her own page.

But the point still stands--you don't have to look, and it's not a big deal.

  • jaycjay

    "Actually, it's Facebook's page"

That's a good point. Ultimately, it's their website and they get to make the rules. If you don't like those rules, whatever they are, domain registration and web hosting are pretty cheap these days. Put up your own site and show whatever you want to.

  • zodak
  • justthinkin

Facebook suck(le)s! Not for nothing, but this shot might have been deemed less offensive if 1. she didn't have her legs spread in quite that way and 2. that you actually could tell that those were babies that she's clasping to her breasts.

  • brooklynbird

Facebook is just being ridiculous on this subject. Just think what a better world this would be if more mothers breast-fed their babies and more people supported them doing so! Right on Mom, two at once, that's awesome.

  • Dude69

Is this some kind of a feat to breastfeed two infants at once? Don't dogs do that all the time! Soon old people will start to post pics of multiple bowel movements in one day on their facebook profiles. It's perfectly natural, but is it worth showing! Please breeders keep your breast feeding pictures to yourselves or at least to your friends and families only!

Also how would the world be better with more breast feeders, you moron!

  • JenChungsBaby

Yeah, but dogs have multiple teats. This chick's batting 1.000 with her two.

  • laisla

Your ignorance astounds. Even more baffling that you would choose to spew it in public. And you think a breastfeeding mother should be embarrassed and shamed?

  • Tower18
Right on Mom, two at once, that's awesome.
    Now, speaking of sexually provocative...
  • laisla

Well, because you turned it around that way, perv. Stop projecting your breasts and breastfeeding issues.

Try breastfeeding one baby, much less two. It is something a person could be proud of.

  • Tower18

Also, since you brought it up and assumed to know my stance on the matter, I should tell you that you're wrong and I actually think nothing but good things about mothers, motherhood, and breastfeeding, though I will insist my future child's mother not post her tits on Facebook.

That said, though Dude69 was a bit crude, he is more correct than you in comparing breastfeeding to innumerable other bodily functions. There is nothing particularly noteworthy about breastfeeding, at least insofar as the rest of society needing to be proud of those who do. Women have been breastfeeding (or not) for millennia, and they will continue to (or not).

You want something to be proud of, go do charity work, or adopt.

  • laisla

His logic is absolutely not correct. You cannot compare breastfeeding to other bodily functions--they are quite different.

You cannot argue a sound point on a logical fallacy.

  • Tower18

Oh believe me, my joke had nothing to do with breasts. But yes, by all means, let's talk about MY issues...you seem quite objective.

  • laisla

Tower, fair enough, I just want to be able to feed my baby (with tact and consideration for others) without people making such a big deal about it. People are always so quick to make it something it's not, judge you, shame you or to sexualize it, and it gets old. I missed your joke and went straight to assuming what I normally hear. My apologies.

  • JacqueMehoff

does she have room for one more hungry fella?

  • FelixtheCat & Christine Quinn'

    LOL

  • nicemarmot

Er...however you feel about breastfeeding, I've seen people's profile pics showing that much boobie and they didn't get banned/deleted!

  • Clarice City

One of my college friends has a pic of his wife breastfeeding - not showy- and it never got deleted. This Arpil lady is just making stink for attention.

  • laisla

    Exactly.

I do not get the problem. There is nothing offensive about that photo.

  • wow 14th street

What an amazing event to be a Mother.

Facebook is so 2006, not 2 relevant today.

  • ninrvana

While I agree that pictures of breastfeeding are not offensive and should not be cause for banning a facebook user, I don't understand why anyone would want to share pictures of themselves breastfeeding.

  • LB

Good point ! Although in our current society certain "acts" are regarded as sacrilege . But she should be able to post her boobies on facebook . Hating on Titty Monsters is not the move !

  • laisla

People do a lot of things I don't understand (drunken photos anyone?). But that does not make it obscene. There's nothing offensive about it.

The solution is rully, rully simple:

If you don't like it, don't look.

This gem will get you far in life--in the face of breastfeeding and beyond.

  • wiseguynyc

Exactly. Why anyone would share photographs of this sort of things is beyond me. Sometimes I think people like to invent causes where causes don't really need to exist.

  • moonbeam

    She's totally desperate for attention.

  • Spook

the answer is simple. She has some sorta fetish where she gets titilated by showing her huge jugs being milked by babies. Nice way to sexualize your brats lady. I bet she's from Queens or Jersey.

  • just saying

April lives in New England according to her facebook profile.

  • robingee

    Oh, shut up.

  • dirty hipster

Oh-Em-Gee I was banned from Facebook, like, double-yew-tee-eff?
