Not on the menu: Police in Evesham, NJ say that a sandwich shop cook deliberately placed a "body hair" in a cop's bagel sandwich because the cop had previously given him many tickets. However, Ryan Burke, who was charged with aggravated assault, told the Courier-Post, "That's ridiculous. I'm not that kind of person."

The paper reports, "Burke said he didn't know of a problem with the sandwich until four officers arrested him in the restaurant's kitchen about 30 minutes after the food went out on Feb. 21." However, the police say, "Further investigation provided information that he indeed placed body hair in his sandwich."

Burke, who was fired and also faces food tampering and retaliation for a past official action charges, says the police are trying to "ruin" his life and revealed that his wife used their mortgage payment to bail him out. And an interesting footnote: The Courier-Post was urged by the town and police not to report about the matter, for fear of "copycat" incidents.

my boy puts snots in every takeout order, his cousin spits into every cops takeout also.

they run the kitchen and do it every day for the entire shift, its cops all day since its two blocks from teh precinct.

    hahha!

anybody seen that cop go into the fast food place and mace the underage cashier claiming she shorted him on the change???

hair in prepared food is not assault and cant be proven as deliberate, sorry. the cops should make their own lunch nobody like cops.

They say you can tell a lot about a person by the company he keeps. The shrinks can probably have a field day with you and your passive-aggressive "homeys."

Why no picture of Ryan Burke? Be interested in seeing what his background / race is, following in the long tradition of Gothamist posters who point to ethnicity as causing criminal behavior.

The cop should be grateful they didn't charge extra for the floss.

You get a hair in your sandwich and you get four of your buddies to arrest a poor deli worker? Tough guy. your mom would be proud.

  • hotstepper

cop or not, it takes a real sack of shit to mess with people's food. if Burke actually made a pube-wich, he deserves everything that coming to him.

  • theboneranger

so when you're a cop and you get a hair in your sandwich you get FOUR cops to arrest the cook?

jizzing in the egg mix woulda gone unnoticed, dummy

  • Politburo

People like to tell these kinds of stories (as if they're cool for doing shit like this), but I believe very few of them.

First off, it takes a real fucked up mind to even think about doing this.

Second, you've got to be pretty fucking stupid to think that you won't get caught stuffing a bundle of pubes into a sandwich, let alone a cop's sandwich. It's not like hair can be confused for something else.

Given that, and the family's financial situation (presuming they are telling the truth), it seems highly unlikely to me that this happened as the police describe (which they barely do.. what was the 'further investigation'?).

    "charged with aggravated assault"

That's pretty ridiculous. He should hope they stick with that charge, because there's no way he could be convicted.

  • NYDirk

That's what happens when you order a sandwich with all the trimmings.

  • Ethan

    It was short, and curly.
