Man Throws Acid At Dog Owner

Yeesh. Yesterday afternoon a 29-year-old Brooklyn man, Igor Dubrovinsky, was walking his dog near his Sheepshead Bay home when a mysterious man in black walked by. The Daily News reports that the dog began to bark, at which point the stranger threw acid at him (are people carrying around acid these days?). He hit Dubrovinsky with the liquid, leaving the dog unharmed, then fled the scene. Dubrovinsky is currently at Staten Island University Hospital with burns to his neck, hands and face—but his injuries aren't life threatening. No arrests have been made at this time.

Well it probably could have been something like lye, and it'd still be reported as "acid," which is being used here really as a synonym for "caustic liquid."

The skeptic in me thinks that this guy got the acid thrown on him for unrelated reasons, and this was just some random thing. If someone was pissed that the dog was barking at him, why not throw the acid on the dog.

Who walks around with a jar of acid?
