  • From the Gothamist newsmap: an Accident Investigation/Pedestrian Struck at CPW & W 97th St in Manhattan; Shots Fired By Mos at E 159st & Melrose Ave in the Bronx; and a Burn Victim at 1195 Atlantic Ave in Brooklyn.
  • The U.S. Coast Guard is searching for two people after a boat capsized off the Rockaways in Queens.
  • They probably spent their cash on airline snacks: Passengers on Captain "Sully" Sullenberger's last flight (before retiring) passed around a barf bag and collected $11 for the "Miracle on the Hudson" pilot.
  • Here's a nice video in memory of Bob Guskind, the Gowanus Lounge blogger who died a year ago.
  • The Gowanus Canal: muse?
  • "We've got so many goddamn shrinks in New York, there are shopping guides for them. Everyone you know either has a shrink or thought about getting one," which is good since we also have "the third-most crazies in the country."
  • A cool old video of Times Square back in the day. You know, the day of peep shows and amazingly cheesy soundtracks (turn the volume UP for this one).

ps that looks like all 70s judging from cars and lack of padded shoulders on the women - which makes it a lot longer than 20 years ago, though that's certainly the gritty creepy way the Square felt in the 80s, too.

That's why last summer's tacky folding chairs felt so right.

Probably because it's an awkward and embarrassing thing to do. Also: Between his book and the lecture circuit, the guy will soon be a millionaire if he isn't already.
