Will Zazi Implicate High School Friends in Terror Plan?

Now that Najibullah Zazi has admitted he planned to attack NY's subway system in federal court, his high school pals are likely to face additional charges when they take the stand tomorrow. When questioned today whether Zazi planned to carry out his attack with the help of two other suicide bombers, Police Commissioner Raymond Kelly responded, "The information will be coming out, but I think that's fair to say, yes." Both Adis Medunjanin, originally from Bosnia and Zarein Ahmedzay, originally from Afghanistan, are already charged in connection with their friend's sojourn in a Pakistani Al Qaeda training camp, but now that Zazi is talking, it's unclear exactly what other accusations will be piled on.

The Daily News got comments from those near and dear to the two terror suspects, who both attended the same Flushing high school: "We do not know specifically what Zazi has said about Adis," Medunjanin's lawyer Robert Gottlieb said yesterday. No comment could be obtained from Ahmedzay's lawyer, but his sister was ready to stand up for him. "[Zazi and Ahmedzay] were just friends from school and the media is trying to put them together for something more," she said, admitting that "Of course, we are worried."

So far Medunjanin (who's been extremely forthcoming in interviews with feds) is thought to have traveled to Pakistan and attended Al Qaeda training with Zazi, while Ahmedzay, is accused of lying to investigators, denying knowledge of the camp. Zazi hasn't named either man in connection with his plan, though he's mentioned the existence of multiple accomplices.
