Gov Paterson at Campaign Kickoff: "I Will Win"

Today at Gov. Paterson’s campaign kickoff the (perhaps overly) confident-seeming official announced that he’s in it for another four years. "There is one rumor that I will confirm: I am running for governor this year—and I will win this year," Paterson said to about 400 people gathered at Hofstra University. "They haven't knocked us down yet and they never will,'' he added, addressing rumor-mongers who’ve spread talk of sex and drug scandals in the build-up to the announcement.

He continued: "Innuendo and ridicule and false rumors, they leave a long and lasting effect. And it's no surprise that it comes in the middle of a budget process where special interests have a lot to lose, and at the beginning of a campaign...This is not about me. This is about the people of New York,'' he said. Though Paterson taled big, few supported him, reports the Times. The only fellow Dem on stage with him was the mayor of the village of Hempstead, Wayne Hall. A few others were in the audience, but most didn’t attend. Many are thought to be siding with his probable opponent for the Democratic seat, Attorney General Andrew Cuomo, who has the edge on Paterson in terms of campaign money and voter support.

Meanwhile, the Daily News spoe with the governor’s wife Michelle, who said it “won’t be the end of the world” if her husband’s political career stops here. "It's just politics," she said nonchalantly. "It's petty stuff. Why would I let that upset me. ... I think regular citizens know what's going on."

"I will win". David, just keep hearing from your competent close aides that you will win.

David Paterson should just end his campaign now. The campaign must realize that no democratic wants to come close to this clown.

David Paterson is just up not up to the task of governing. He does not have what it takes to govern effectively. “The Democratic Conference Organizational and Structural Report” detailing the workings of Paterson’s office while he was Senate Minority leader is an objective assessment of this clowns ability to manage or more precisely mismanage.

This scathing report indicated that Paterson’s Senate Minority office, headed by the supremely incompetent Michael Jones-Bey, was completely dysfunctional. Mr. Jones-Bey, a childhood friend of Paterson, who is now incredulously Director of Division of Minority & Women's Business Development at Empire State Development Corporation, was reported to be more interested in partying and boozing up with staff than working.

Wow! You can be a total bozo, but if you are a friend of David Paterson, you not only will get a state job, but you might also get promoted for your incompetence.

As you can see he has support, not very close and not very sensible ....but hey that is what wives are for.

Yeah, he will win. This just in at Google's news search: Paterson was so loudly booed at an upstate hockey game this afternoon that nobody could hear him even on the PA system. Take a hint, Dave. It ain't happening. Don't waste campaign funds and personal dignity fighting the inevitable. Just sit down, take a deep breath and fight the legislature all through the rest of this year the way only a lame duck who has nothing to lose can. Go out with your head held high and with a legacy to be proud of.

Poor guy; can't read the writing on the wall.

  • If I cared just a little more, I would have shown up and protested with an incredibly gigantic sign.
