Stuff Catholics Give Up For Lent

2010_02_dolan.jpg The Daily News stopped Catholics outside of St. Patrick's Cathedral yesterday to ask them what they are giving up for Lent. (Archdiocese of NY explains, "Lent is a penitential season of preparation for the commemoration of the Passion, Death and Resurrection of Jesus. It leads to Easter Sunday, which will be celebrated this year on Sunday, April 4, 2010.") Some of the answers/wishes: "Yelling at my children, foul language and drinking," Facebook because it's "addictive," and "road rage...The only time I tailgate is when I have to prove a point." Which makes us wonder: Will there be more road rage incidents once Lent is over, because points are meant to be proven, right?

Does that mean priests won't be porking any altar boys between Ash Wednesday and Easter?

    Religion is overrated.

You live once so enjoy life instead of worrying about what you cannot and can do.

how is it ok to bash catholics/christians at all levels, but a hint of disapproval towards anything else anything jewish gets slapped with an anti-semetic label and is unacceptable?

not that either is ok, but it does make you kinda scratch your head.

Don't worry, there are plenty of us who think they're all delusional. Also, one issue I have with Christians (Catholics are Christians, you know?) is that they have a penchant for getting all up in other people's faces about it, whereas Jews (thankfully) tend to keep to themselves about their religion a bit more.
