School Already Canceled Tomorrow for Snowpocalypse!

Snow noes, the teenagers are going to be running amok tonight! The Mayor's office has preemptively announced that all NYC public schools are going to be closed tomorrow out of panic that this time the impending snowmageddon will actually happen, as our venerable seers portend. Over a foot of snow is expected starting early tomorrow morning, but throughout tonight, expect adolescents to run (more) wild in the streets (than usual). Then they'll sleep half the day away tomorrow, rising for The Price is Right, followed by a mass high-jacking of snow plows to make sure roads remain impassable through the weekend. Rules were made to be frozen!

Back in 1957 I was out in the snow, today the kids will be home watching TV while eating processed junk food.

Well don't go jumping to conclusions, It ain't started snowing yet ! But I do Remember the Blizzard of 96, Even though, I graduated a year prior . I got three days off work with pay because of that storm .

  • theplanetofchuck

This just in "the National Weather Service has downgraded tomorrow's weather from a winter wonderland to a Class 3 Kill Storm"

  • NannyState

Teenagers praying for ten inches of the white stuff? Sounds like more tales from the rubber room.

  • Malcolm Tucker

Call me mad, but I actually have high hopes for SNOWPOCALYPSE 2: SNOWVERKILL, after the disappointment of the original Snowpocalypse. Only white stuff I saw out my window Saturday was pre-salt covering the sidewalks and some poor Albino bugger across the way.

  • Dead Himmler

Does this mean a snow day for the rubber room?

"Snowpocalypse" and "snowmageddon" are both already taken. The former for the storm in December and the latter for the most recent storm in DC. Find a new name.

    Snownarok?

NYC public schools sure have become soft.

  • HBHB

Bloomberg must know something we dont! They NEVER close NYC public schools, even when it IS snowing.

  • PKinNYC

    Kanye West hates white people.

  • I'm so annoyed with how "Chicken Little" the news/politician nexus has become, that I hope it doesn't snow.

And then the children will be running wild in the streets...

  • Gothamist_Cynic

We're not even going to get an inch.

  • evbo

That's what I said about the last alleged "snowstorm" last Saturday. But I have a feeling we're gonna be well & truly dumped on this time around.

  • jaycjay

If you read the actual forecasts for the weekend (as opposed to always-hyped coverage of the forecasts), they made clear that there was a lot of unpredictability as to how the storm would track as it moved up the coast, and so how it would impact this area.

This time around, there's none of that.

  • Blue387

    Are any colleges closed?

  • Spirit of 76

"Snowpocalypse"? That is so lame. Come on, JDS. "Snowmageddon" sounds so much better.

  • famdoc

"Snow Day" was actually one of the better films of its ilk.

Starred Park Slope child actress Zena Grey.
