Palin: "Absurd" Not To Consider 2012 Run

After endearing herself to the Tea Party faithful—and landing herself a lot of media attention—at the Tea Party Convention this past weekend, former Alaska governor and Republican vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin told her Fox News colleague Chris Wallace that of course she'd think about running for president in 2012. Palin said, "I would. I would if I believed that that is the right thing to do for our country and for the Palin family. Certainly, I would do so... I think that it would be absurd to not consider what it is that I can potentially do to help our country."

The Daily News's Mike Lupica isn't very happy about Palin's ambitions, writing, "Now there are many, many ways Sarah Palin could help this country. Running for President will never be one of them. You listen to her long enough and actually feel yourself getting dimmer by the minute, like a dying light bulb." He also takes her to task for complaining when Obama's chief of staff Rahm Emanuel uses the word "retards" (while letting Rush Limbaugh use the term). And then there's her crib notes—"It's now official that she can fit her entire political philosophy in the palm of her hand."

Palin also said on Fox News yesterday that helping America might not be through the Oval Office—"It may be just doing a darn good job as a reporter or covering some of the current events"—and called President Obama on his experience, "I do say that my executive experience, as an administrator, as a team manager if you will was, and so was John McCain's as a matter of fact, was stronger and we had more experience than Barack Obama did in terms of managing huge multi-billion dollar budgets and thousands of employees." And when asked about her current grasp of national and international issues, she replied, "Now that my focus has been enlarged, I sure as heck better be more astute on these current events, national issues."

That video is what we could be forced to live into, if these crazy bunch are not repelled by the majority with coherence, facts, and forceful politics.

Palin will be a force to be reckoned with in 2012. While she was a newbie to national politics in 2008, she still had more business and executive experience than the other three players. She certainly had more experience than the community organizer. She admitted on her interview with Chris Wallace that in 2008 she didn't know much beyond running things in Alaska. I believe her new job with Fox News as a commentator will change all that in terms of being on top of foreign and domestic affairs and current events. I don't think Katie Couric will be able to trip her up again with gotcha questions.

As I hope you can tell by the replies that followed your comment Mr. Wong that nobody in their right mind would seriously agree with what you said. Kthxbye.

that video is freakin my mind.

  • Amanda Harletsch

Unfortunately we can not expect any improvements in terms of being on top of foreign and domestic affairs and current events from her fan base, even when FAUX NEWS think for them.

  • Pachinko

Palin is a patriot and has excellent morals. Something the USA desperately needs.

  • Gwinny

    lol, good one!

Seriously, best joke of the day.

I like the quote from her that Doonesbury put on its website today. It's very deep and thought-provoking.

"I have no idea how conventionally people [run for the White House]. How they open a door that perhaps isn't even open. I don't know how any of that stuff works. I'm just appreciative of having some good information at my fingerprints now."

    Zzzzzang! You've been teabagged.

Overheard on second day of Palin presidency: "What do you suppose I could get for one of those State of the Union thingies? $100,000?"

  • Steven

There is no way the Republican party will let her run and for sure she will not be the first woman president.

  • Thinky Think

Its not the tea party its the tea baggers!

  • Thinky Think

Could someone PLEASE tell this crack whore to sit down!!!!

  • westernqueensland

I like the Daily News' "Tea-Bag-Pin-Up take on this.

  • hotstepper

    that is fucking awesome.

  • TimSPC

This paves the way for an easy Obama 2012 win. No way Palin gets the Republican nomination. I know that party is a total clusterfuck, but eventually they'll come to their senses.

So, after she gets the ol' heave ho, some schmohawks teabaggers organize a Tea Party ticket and make her their candidate. She peels off 7-9% from the GOP, and, TADA, two-term Obama.

  • manuelmontalvo

    [shhhh...]

  • Amanda Harletsch

why do dumb people live so long?

ALERT - "Palin Gives Hand Job at Tea Bag Rally at Gaylord Convention Center" - ALERT

  • NannyState

Imagine her in a debate with Obama. Now imagine why her phone isn't ringing.

  • captainblackout

Before we get to that, imagine her in a debate with another Republican in the primary...she won't even get past that.

  • theevilone

    Run away, Sarah. Run away.

  • MT

'Absurd' is definitely the word I associate most with Sarah Palin.

  • Blue387

What does she have to do with New York?

    Is she running for governor?

  • hotstepper

    don't be that guy.

  • CR

Don't learn too much about current events Sarah! Otherwise your followers will start to think that you think you know more than they do.

  • farleft

Sadly, Palin is no worse than Obama.

  • Amanda Harletsch

very "smart", in the line of thought of Adam killed the dinos.

  • eastbwayanglo

    expand.

  • farleft

Why don't I let you in on a little secret: Online debates always end where they started.

If you don't see why Obama's domestic and foreign policies are more conservative then liberal, then you are another naive American who thinks Change is achieved by having Hope. Obama is a cliche, and so are his sound bytes. Yes, Obama is more intelligent than Palin, but they're both equally inept when it comes to progressive politics.

Glad I voted for neither the elephant or the jackass.

  • Spirit of 76

I guess when you're "farleft," everyone else looks rightist.

  • hotstepper

    nihilism: the easy way out.

  • Rocknrope

    Obiden.

  • hotstepper

no chance in hell. palin is nothing but a phyllis schlafly rerun. there is no better way to secure a second term for obama, and the GOP elders know it.

  • JenChungsBaby

Sarah Palin is all John McCain's fault.

  • jibbly

I was under the impression that the GOP basically forced Palin onto his ticket.

But whoever is at fault all I know is that someone possibly even less intelligent than GWB is now the spokesperson for the Republican party.

So, uh, good luck with that.
