  • Today on the Gothamist Newsmap: second alarm fire on East 65th, body found on 115th and 2nd, car vs. building on 8th Street and 6th Avenue.
  • Wesleyan has sued its ex-financial adviser, accusing him of "being a money-obsessed bureaucrat who exploited Wesleyan’s prestige and resources to boost his personal wealth."
  • Bill Cosby: probably not dead. Another reminder to take all Twitter rumors with a large dose of salt.
  • The mother of the girl who starred in Precious is a subway singer, and helped her daughter land the role.
  • Good news: two of the terrifying feral beagles who were hounding Orient Point have been adopted. Turns out they were very sweet dogs, and more are available for adoption.
  • Say what you want about Julia Allison, but she's not afraid to make a total ass of herself on film.

Say what you want about Julia Allison, but she's not afraid to make a total ass of herself on film.
Problem is there's a difference between making an ass of yourself on film to make people laugh, or this case, where she just fails miserably. And looks old.

  • Oh, I definitely agree with you there— there's something disturbing about the video, and I think it's that Julia doesn't realize that the joke is on her.

But I'm not down with all the Julia Allison haters out there— doesn't it seem like under the glitz and makeup, she's really suffering? I know she chose to live in public, but it's clear that it got away from her, and now it just seems like she's trying to find a way out.

I've been guilty of some J.A. bashing but I don't hate her. She's just sort of a bizarre phenomenon. I think she's fairly intelligent, very fame hungry, but if not for befriending some folks at Gawker who stuck her mug on their site 10x a week back in the day (half of them making fun of her), I'm not sure anyone would know who she is. She's famous for being a blogger, but have her blogs done anything special?

The fact that Sony stuck her on a commercial sitting next to Justin Timberlake is even more strange. I am certain the majority of people who see it have no idea who she is.

Hey look, it's my former office building. I always used to wonder how far the smush-mark would be if somebody managed to topple the ESB.

I have no idea who Julia Allison is but, wow, that piece was dumb. Really feel sorry for her if she thought that insider/outsider thing was clever or funny.
