Boston Less Drunk Than NYC?

020510bar.jpg
A surprising report in the March issue of Men's Health asserts that Boston is the "least drunk" city in all the land. You really don't need to read much further to realize this news is wicked retarded, but what makes it even more ridonkulous is that the Irish and college capital of America ranks even higher on the sobriety scale than Salt Lake City, which is fourth "least drunk." And ranking #2 for least drunk is Yonkers, which is such a dreary place you need a drink just to get through it on Metro North.

NYC placed eighth on the least drunk list, which was reportedly compiled using "such data as death rates from alcoholic liver disease, booze-fueled car crashes, frequency of binge-drinking in the past month, number of DUI arrests, and severity of DUI penalties." That criteria probably explains the bizarro results—cities like Boston and New York have plentiful public transit and cabs, while those inebriates who fool around in Fresno have a harder time getting home. That California town ranks #1 drunkest, according to Men's Health. (Buncha winos.)

Nanny, this comment was misplaced and is now directed at the Beantown asshole to whom it was intended, and who seems proud being a Beantown asshole.

It was not directed at you, who can say whatever you please on Gothamist.

In fact, your comment was quite funny.

The Irish are a lowly bunch of ugly drunken skells living in their mom's Southie basement wiping off the spooge with their Red Sux shirts after a night drinking in, away from the upscale bars.

    Fixed.

  • just saying

One reason why Boston ranks higher than NYC on the sobriety scale is because their drunkards come here to indulge their liquor-fueled sprees.

"...but what makes it even more ridonkulous is that the Irish and college capital of America ranks even higher on the sobriety scale..."

Impressive. Why not just call it the "mick" or "paddy" capital, John Del Signore? How very bigoted and ignorant of you.

Since Gothamist has a (Report This) link to flag a racist comment by a user, where do we link to flag a racist comment by one its writers?

  • biked00d

You mean the same joke you might see on an episode of Family Guy is suddenly taboo on Gothamist?

As an Irish-American Bostonian, self-described drunk, I take offense to your taking offense.

Not so much racist as prejudist, but yeah, hear hear.

  • PKMKII

It seems like the "Irish are drunkards" stereotype is a lot more true of NYC Irish than Boston Irish.

  • valeriob

Whether they're sober or drunk, Bostonians still wake up in Boston.

    Which sucks. So there's that.

  • biked00d

Yeah, because it's such a terrrrrrible thing to wake up in a city with clean streets, low crime, practically-legalized marijuana, and no shortage of things to do if you know where and how to look.

    Dumbass.

  • Dead Himmler

Boston has the Red Sox which cancels out everything else. Now who is the dumb-ass?

  • biked00d

    Dag yo that's cooooold
