Witness: Rex Ryan Flipped Bird After Being Taunted, Spit On

2010_01_ryan4.jpg The latest revelation in Rex Ryan's Finger-Gate: Fox Sports reporter Jay Glazer says the Jets coach was repeatedly harassed and even spit on by "a guy who was going out of his way to incite a fight." The man allegedly told Ryan, "Hey. I eff-in hate you. I hate you. I hate you. You're an eff-in piece of eff...I hate you. I hope you die, you fat piece of crap,' and then spit at him." Ryan and his group ran into the man two more times, and third time being a charm, Ryan flipped off the man. Glazer declared that Ryan's $50,000 fine for the incident "is the most ridiculous thing. If (Jets GM) Mike Tannenbaum or (Jets owner) Woody Johnson was there, they would have hit the guy."

and don't forget the best part: they're both doin' your mom! zing!

The Jets flipped off the fans by demanding they pay for personal seat licenses on some season ticket plans—This after decades of futility. To fine the head coach 50K for this is stupid. They should have fined him 50K for attempting a 52 yard field goal right before half time a few weeks ago...

I don't know, Ryan looks kind of jovial as he's flicking the guy off. It doesn't look like someone just spit on him and said "I hope you die". I'd think that would elicit a stronger reaction.

Regardless, are there any people actually offended by this? Other than the NFL and Jets PR guys?

Smells fishy. If that guy had really spit on Ryan then they would have had him thrown out or arrested. Glazer has always been too close to his subjects to be an objective journalist. How much did they pay/promise him to write this?

An eff-in piece of eff, indeed.
