The Prius May be Toyota's Next Recall

In addition to Camrys and Corollas, it seems that Toyota may have to recall another top-selling model—The Prius! Just a week after the mega-manufacturer made its biggest recall in history for sticky gas pedals that made cars go on their own, the Japanese government has ordered the company to look into a potentially dangerous flaw in its 2010 Priuses. This time it's not the gas, it's the brakes.

Drivers reported that the peppy hybrid's brakes stopped working at slow speeds, especially on slippery surfaces like ice or snow, or after hitting a pot hole. In the U.S. 161 Prius owners have protested so far—four said the problem led to a crash, reports the NY Times, and two crashes resulted in injury. The secretary of transportation, Ray LaHood, said the agency would “look at these complaints involving brakes and make sure they’re paying attention to it.” Meanwhile, he's told Americans to "stop driving" other already-recalled Toyota models, reports AP. Then he took back what was "obviously a misstatement,'' saying they should take their cars back to their dealers.

But, but, but what car will people drive with a great sense of smugness now?!?

My bet is on Crosleys and Nash Metropolitans with an occasional American Bantam thrown in.

I'm telling you, we're days away from reports of seppuku committed by Toyota execs.
