    I agree that all the chef shows have probably had an effect, but don't you think the economy/unemployment rate has more to do with this? I believe I read that grad school applications are up in nearly every discipline.

    A recent article shows a lot of top cooking school graduates end up with a low paying cooking job and a massive student debt. Considering the recent article about recent law school grads in a similar situation (only a small percentage of lawyers are making the money in Big Law), it seems today's undergrads are bad at math.

    I didn't say it was the wisest decision, but I think people people like they are on some sort of track, or will be more in a position to get a job, or at least are doing something to further their career, right or wrong. I'm sure the cooking shows have increased the popularity of culinary school, but I don't think it is as big a factor as the current economic situation.

    Actually if these individuals who are looking for post college degrees went to a trade school, just maybe they could get a job as a welder or a plumber.

    Because there are so many construction jobs available?

    Actually, those jobs are still in demand. I know a few welders making good money right now because so few people know how to do it.

    STUY TOWN SUCKS! How about all the unaffordable apartments that are made because the rest of Manhattan supports that bullshit. You want affordable? Get a discarded refrigerator box and park it on the East River.
