Yorkies Are #1 In New York

New Yorkers love their Yorkies—according to the American Kennel Club, they're the most popular pure breed in the city, for a second year in a row. (Certainly Schmitty has something to do with this.) A spokeswoman for AKC says of the small dogs, "It just reinforces the fact that New Yorkers live a busy, fast-paced lifestyle and need their portable pooches." A breeder of the pups told the Daily News: "They are certainly good city dogs, and sometimes they can be better watchdogs than much bigger breeds."

Other popular dogs in New York are Labrador retrievers, dachshunds, shih tzus and German shepherds. But will Chihuahuas edge them all out next year? And New York, let's not forget about choosing pound puppies over puppy mills.

for little things they sure can make a racket. that watchdog quote does not sound right, more like the dog's been neglected all day and has to bark at the slightest sense of any human presence to grab attention.

to my neighbor, you might not know this but your BF hates your dog, I would find a new person to look after him when you're not around, hint hint. I'm passive aggressive, ain't I? I would tell you but you ain't a nice person.

Was this survey only conducted in Manhattan? Casue were I live bull-terriors are breed of choice.

i'm gonna guess their study is more accurate than your anecdotal evidence.

there are also probably a lot more bull terriers who aren't purebred than yorkies, no?
