Cameron Douglas Will Get 10+ Years For Trafficking

traffic0110.jpg Cameron Douglas, the 31-year-old son of actor Michael, is a big time crystal meth dealer—just last year being busted with half a pound of the stuff at the Gansevoort Hotel (where he was living on his father's tab). Originally placed under house arrest, he was brought behind bars once his girlfriend Kelly Sott was caught smuggling heroin to his home in an electric toothbrush. Now the actor/deejay is readying for his sentencing on April 27th—the NY Post reports he faces a minimum 10 years behind bars. Is life imitating art for Michael Douglas? Can he expect to find bunnies boiling in his brownstone next?

Looks like Cameron Douglas is turning rat. That means he'll be welcome at a Federal Bureau of Prisons camp like the one at Schuylkill FCI where big time financial scammer Joe Nacchio is doing his six years partying 24/7. In fact, given that Cameron Douglas' case is out of New York city that makes the Federal prison camp at Schuylkill FCI a likely destination.

If it's any consolation to the boy, having his teeth rotted out by meth will spare him the agony of getting them knocked out for his first DSG prison "whammer".

nothing like a misleading totle or anything....

'WILL get 10+' versus 'FACES up to 10+'?

  • gothamguy

actually, the headline is referring to the fact that the statute he pleaded guilty to violating (21 USC 841(b)(1)(A)) requires a term of imprisonment which "shall not be less than 10 years" and as high as life. It is a mandatory minimum. There are extremely limited ways around it, but unless one applies, the court has no choice but to give 10 or more years.

yep, and further reading of the article says your honor can use ihs own restraint to reduce the sentence if so desired and on proper grounds.

I guess this all comes down to poor parenting.

Ouch. There are provisions which allow the judge to go below that 10-year minimum, but they are very narrow. Not sure if he would qualify because of his prior arrest though.

i've had the misfortune of being in the presence of these two (cameron and his girlfriend) and holy shit what couple of tweekers. couldn't sit still for two seconds, couldn't stop ranting...it's a bummer that someone so privileged feels the need to resort to such a lifestyle.

I'll never understand idiots like this. You don't want to be anything and just mooch off your rich father, fine. Why get involved in something so seedy that will land you in the joint for 10 years.
