Fireball and Death on the Long Island Expressway

01232010fire.jpg This morning at 8 a.m. a tanker hauling a cargo of gasoline sideswiped a car while changing lanes, causing the truck to roll and burst into flames. Its driver perished on the Long Island Expressway and another person was injured. The wreck occurred near the Nassau-Suffolk County line and as of this afternoon the road was still closed on both sides near Melville, reported the NY Post. The truck’s combustion caused a giant fireball that could be seen for miles, and also felled a large highway sign, blocking the road in both directions. This afternoon rescuers were still trying to pull the driver’s body from truck.

Worst piece of junk car on the planet,

    Dodge Neon

Falls apart while you are driving, steering wheel comes off in your hand, engines blow up, people die.

Seriously, bought one for my kid and it lasted maybe 1 week before the head gasket popped.

    Total junk, all of them.

NEVER buy or drive a Dodge Neon. They are the worst immitation of a car. They have had air bags explode on hitting a bump, you sneeze in that car and the head gasket blows up.

    Never buy a Dodge Neon.

It is not a road worthy vehicle.

    Of course you are.

This is horrifying, but I'm glad it happened on a weekend instead of during my commute.
