Steven Spielberg Doing Documentary on WTC "Rebuilding"

0121010et.jpg The ridiculously slow rebuilding process at Ground Zero is going to get a bit of that Steven Spielberg magic, with a six-part documentary on the Science Channel called Rebuilding Ground Zero. It would be funny (in an Andy Kaufman sort of way) if the whole series was comprised of a time-elapse video showing nothing happening, but the press release says it will "chronicle the uplifting, innovative reengineering of the World Trade Center site through the eyes of the people—architects, engineers, construction workers and city planners—charged with making One World Trade Center and its surrounding area a reality." But when it comes out on DVD, what section will video stores put it: fantasy or science fiction?

Andy Warhol would have done it better.

Spielberg won't live to finish it.

if the original favorite design of the Think Team had been selected maybe we would have something to marvel at in a good way. However, as always, the families got involved and Pataki jumped over the awards committee and selected the Libeskind fake design. That thing kept getting cut and cut until there's nothing , absolutely, nothing left of the original "winning" design.

The public was defrauded and world class architects have learned never to trust anything sponsored by New York State.

yea, a piece of bloody fiction it will be... I live on block away and it disgusts me to see that nothing has been rebuilt.

They coulda just flattened it, put in a huge grass lawn to let people choose to reflect and celebrate life until deciding what kind of building to erect.

Or they coulda just rebuilt the same f$%&*ken building.

AND Mr. Spielberg please figure a way to teach 'some' people to understand the difference between a victim and a hero.

    DON'T GET ME STARTED...

And I wasn't even born in this wonderul country!

    grrr.

    I should have a drink.

Just so the Documentary is relative to the actual project, Parts 1-5 will cover the years 2003-2009.

Is he going to include any of the insane, nonsensical bickering that went on with between Childs, Libeskind, Silverstein, and all the other idiots involved?

I sure hope the subtext of this documentary is about a boy looking for his father.

Fantasy. There's no science involved in this fiction. If there was, they wouldn't be building it to begin with.
