Ja Rule Faces Jail Time

jarule0110.jpg Back in 2007, rapper Ja Rule was arrested on West End Avenue, where he and his crew were pulled over for speeding. However, the cops found a .40-caliber pistol in the car (which ended up having a trace amounts of Ja Rule's DNA on it). According to the Post, Ja Rule and his lawyer argued this morning that cops had no cause to search his car, but Manhattan Supreme Court Justice Richard Carruthers denied the motion. He did, however, say that the weed the rapper admitted to having on him that night won't be used against him. He's free on bail right now, but his next court date is March 3rd, and he faces a minimum of 3.5 years in prison.

Hahahahaha, reminds me of the days when he was a guest on every hiphop R&B song and said the same word over and over again.

Sad to say I like a lot of songs he guest rapped on...even with J-Lo.

It's not like he has a career right now.

  • grizzzly

He of all people should know that you never offer your weed up to the cop, thereby making it "open to public display"

  • getting pulled over for speeding is cause for a search.

  • jaycjay

No, generally it isn't. I don't know what happened when he was stopped, but there must have been something he did or said, or something visible in the car, that provided the cause to search.

A routine traffic ticket does not mean the car can be searched. A few states used to have laws that would allow it, but that ended with Knowles v. Iowa.

well his career is in a lull right now so maybe he needs jail time to rap about it later.

Can he tweet from Jail? - indirect pun intended.
