Burger Shoppe Debuts Mac N' Cheese Burger

012010maccheeseburger.jpg This is not the first time the comforting taste sensation of Mac & Cheese has sexed up the flavor profile of the ubiquitous hamburger—Rachael Ray has a recipe on her site, for starters—but this is still vital information. Earlier this week, Burger Shoppe down on Wall Street began serving this bad boy. And it's not just some slapdash burger with mac piled awkwardly on top like a humiliating (edible) toupee! No, the call is coming from inside the building: the burger has a heart and soul of Mac n' Cheese, cooked from within. Sure, this is why you're fat, but this is also why you have something to look forward to in this world of frustration and edamame.

Burger Shoppe (which previously brought you the $175 burger with gold leaf shavings) tells us this new marvel is made with premium ground Hereford beef blended with macaroni pasta, a blend of four cheeses (Gruyere, Cheddar, American and Pecorino) and topped with gruyere bread crumbs and more cheese. It costs $15 and comes served with arugula salad and a side of house-made four cheese sauce (thank God!). The only thing missing are bacon bits.

I think I just puked a little in my mouth...

Wipe it into some arugula: it's an $8 appetizer!

The Burger Shoppe is pretty mixed quality. Sometimes it's really good, sometimes it's pretty bad. My worst experience was ordering three cheeseburgers for our group - two of them were perfect and the third was dried out and overcooked.

I look forward to trying this burger, though. Is it one of their daily burgers?

Sounds tasty but reminds of the one and only funny joke from "Funky Winkerbean":

Funky: I thought we get free fries with the pizzaburger.

Lunchlady: You do, it's mixed in with the meat.

Yeah, you're right, not that funny.

Burger Shoppe burgers are small, too salty, overcooked, and overpriced. The Guinness shakees are good but they are also overpriced.

So it's a burger cut with pasta? For $15? No, thanks.
