Now that Senator Schumer is well on his way to saving the Pool Parties, he's set his sights off the coastline and is asking for federal funds to help restore Bannerman Castle.

Reportedly he'll be in a meeting today with members of the Bannerman Castle Trust and local officials to discuss how to save the landmark on a Hudson River, or what's left of it. During a recent storm, more walls of the historic castle came crashing down — adding to the pile of rubble on the island.

Schumer plans to ask the federal Department of the Interior "to back the trust's application for funding under the Save America's Treasures program and will also try to find other emergency funding." The Fund's founder, Neil Caplan, had been planning to restore the residence this year with money saved up from grants and fund-raising — but after the latest damage suffered the project became too costly.

Can Chuck save the NYS Pavilion in Flushing Meadows, too?

Maybe the NRA might be interested in doing a satellite branch of their National Firearms Museum.

You can take a boat tour out there in the summer. I think I paid 40 bucks- but it was well worth the money. Beautiful views of the Hudson and castle? Can't go wrong. Also, the cute little town, Cold Spring, has some delish restaurants and nifty anique stores. Worth a day trip before the whole thing comes falling down.

Good for Chuck, this place is cool and totally worth restoring.
