Lady Gaga NYC Show Watch

ladygaga0110.jpg International superstar, NYU drop-out, and former small club singer/songwriter (video!), Lady Gaga, has been canceling shows on her current Monster Ball tour due to exhaustion and dehydration.

The folks in Atlantic City are not happy about her skipping out on her show at the Borgata this past weekend, however, since she was healthy enough to appear (and perform) on Oprah right after her cancellation announcement. They also didn't receive a Twitter apology like her fans (or as she calls them: monsters) did in Indiana. One angry (former?) fan ranted: "This is what happens when spoiled rich girls become entertainers. They don't care about anything but themselves." That was harsh, even for a monster.

This Wednesday, Gaga is scheduled to kick-off her 4-night run at Radio City Music Hall, where one night she's donating every penny made in sales and merch to victims of the Haiti earthquake. Some hopeful/deluded monsters predict on her official website that the recent added cancellations are so she can rest up for these big hometown shows.

If she's not gigging, the NYU maintenance dept. would like their mops back.

They say she is the next Madonna and for the first time I have to agree.

Britney was never Madonna's succesor, it was GAGA!

i guess i'm not "in" in this lady gaga thing. is she the new britney spears? "soooooo much better"? hmm?

She is different. I think she's the first female artist in a long time to have success without any sex appeal....in the stereotypical sense.

"I think she's the first female artist in a long time to have success without any sex appeal....in the stereotypical sense."

I guess you might mean that her "sex appeal" isn't appealing to you, which I can understand. But certainly her marketing and image are about little other than sexuality.

A quick look at a random collection of images makes the point... she's rarely photographed fully clothed:

And, by the way, that's not a new development since she's become a star. Here are pics from Lolapalooza in 2007:

Whatever happened to the idea of evaluating artists by their art and not their sex appeal or image?

This is why u shouldnt listen to singers like this. They earn fans bc record companys pay millions to promote them and then they cancel concerts bc theyre lazy and rich all bc of record company promotion. No one decides what music they like anymore they just listen to z100 and lady gaga's execs pay z100 millions to play her songs. What happened to extensive touring when you first start out to gain a fan base and then continually touring to keep fan support. Popular music as gone far astray from reality. Stop letting record execs choose the music you listen to because the singers dont care about music, they care about money. How can she say shes dehydrated and exhausted when she barely tours all year and is given the best amenities. My friends band played 250 shows last year and he lived out of bus. He never complained of dehydration or exhaustion bc he loves doing it for the fans and music. Lada Gaga is garbage.

That's how mainstream music works. Record companies want to the public to the music THEY want you to hear.

It's another reason why the record companies hate the Internet. They want control over the public, which they don't have anymore.

"This is what happens when spoiled rich girls become entertainers. They don't care about anything but themselves."

This is what happens when spoiled rich kids think that celebrities are supposed to serve them, or something. They don't care about anything but themselves. Lord knows you'd be acting like you were on your deathbed if you were in her position. And, she clearly suffered through that whole performance on Oprah. It was hardly a minor thing, this dehydration and exhaustion business.

"skipping out on her show at the Borgata this past weekend, however, since she was healthy enough to appear on Oprah"

What? She says she was too exhausted to dance around and sing (or lip-synch, whatever) for an hour -- but somehow she was still able to sit on a couch and talk for ten minutes? Outrageous!

Everyone of those shows is sold out. It would pretty much kill her career, or at least put a solid dent in it, if she cancelled all of them. She'll probably just cancel the Haiti one.
