- The old Ludlow Street Jail was on the current site of Seward Park High School: it was apparently used for "civil offenders"— men who didn't pay their alimony, corrupt politicians, etc.
- Port Authority cops have apparently been setting Duane Reade shoplifters free, rather than see their crime stats go up.
- How to get some really bad press, Haiti disaster edition: "the ship's owners justified it as a humanitarian call, because the ship also delivered 40 palettes of relief supplies while its passengers frolicked on zip-lines and ate barbeque within the 12-foot-high fence's perimeter."
- A novel use for Governor's Island: replacing the Guantanamo Bay terrorist prison.
