Poll: Gillibrand Ahead Of Ford By 19 Points

2010_1_haroldford3.jpg Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand is leading former Tennessee Congressman and likely Senate candidate Harold Ford by 19 points, according to a Marist Poll. In a survey that doesn't look particularly good for either Senate hopeful, 43 percent of Democratic voters favor Gillibrand and 24 percent favor Ford — who after announcing his interest in running has come under fire from the Democratic establishment.

The poll revealed that after a year in office, Gillibrand has an approval rating of just 31 percent among Democrats. Meanwhile, Ford came across as a relative no-name among Democratic voters, with 52 percent of respondents having either never heard of him or saying they were unsure of how to rate him (34% have a positive view of him and 14% have an negative view of him, the Post reports). "Gillibrand still hasn't gained much traction even after one year in office," Lee Miringoff, director of the Marist Institute for Public Opinion, told the Daily News. "Her low approval rating shows she still has a lot of convincing to do."

While high-ranking Democrats like Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid and Sen. Chuck Schumer has tried to discourage Ford from running, the 39-year-old former lawmaker has enjoyed the backing of Democratic power couple Steven Rattner and Maureen White. According to Gawker, that's because one of White's brothers had an awkward romantic relationship with Gillibrand more than a decade ago.

It's been reported that in the past this guy was pro-life and anti gay rights, and now all of the sudden he's pro-choice and supports gay marriage? Do we really need another fair weather politician in New York?

    Harold: ~call me~

Really, what is someone from the Confederacy doing in New York? trying to bring back slavery?

  • ANGRYGOD11

    WTF?

You do realize suggesting a Southern Black man wants to bring back slavery is like a NY Jew wants to open an extermination camp to make his people into soap?

    Please, take your medication.

ONLY 19 points ahead of guy nobody thinks of as a New Yorker?

  • Spirit of 76

Worse. Only 19 points ahead of a guy most people haven't even heard of. Thank you so very much, soon to be victim of a landslide David Paterson.

Hilary wasn't a NYer either but we had to deal with her pasty fat ass, and serve as a stepping stone for her failed presidential run, didn't we?

  • ANGRYGOD11

Her election to the Senate was a disgrace.

However, her election did reflect the enormous popularity of her husband administration among New Yorkers (and she was part of it) campaign skills, and her Illinois background didn't really hurt her.

This clown has a Southern accent you can hear a mile away and no such love around here.
