Warmer Conditions Almost Here

Coney Island in Winter by xbettyx on Flickr

Believe it or not a mild air mass is slowly making its way eastward! The city is still under the cold half of the high pressure system, which is currently centered over Mississippi, but warmer air will definitely arrive tomorrow. Today will remain mostly cloudy with a high in the mid 30s. More seasonable upper 30s are in store for tomorrow and that should be under sunny skies.

Old Sol will be out again on Friday and Saturday. Both days should see maximum temperatures ranging from the lower to mid 40s. Saturday looks especially good for sunbathing on the Great Lawn as the winds will be calm.

The second half of the holiday weekend is beginning to look soggy. Nipping at the heels of the high pressure system is a storm that is expected to form off the Louisiana coast before scooting eastward and up the Atlantic coast. The Weather Service has issued a vague hazardous weather outlook for Sunday night and Monday. AccuWeather's forecast is much more sanguine. Really, though, it is just too soon to tell, so stay tuned!

Then when it's summer people complain about the humidity and it's too hot.

Let winter be winter. It's nasty and disgusting when winter feels like spring.

There goes my dream of walking across Kissena Lake. After 3 weeks of ice, it may be hard enough to walk on. But now, it's melting.
