Happy Project Runway Day!

projo0110.jpg

Yes, despite their move to the suburban mom haven of Lifetime, the cast of Project Runway is celebrating their return to New York with a street naming and their own holiday. NYC & Company presented a New York City Proclamation deeming Wednesday January 13th as Project Runway Day, and the stretch of 7th Ave named "Fashion Avenue" has been temporarily re-named "Project Runway Avenue." Tim Gunn, Michael Kors and Nina Garcia joined city officials this morning for the naming ceremony in front of the "Needle Threading a Button" sculpture. We're not entirely sure what the traditional celebrations are for Project Runway Day, but we know there is one thing missing: Heidi Klum!

Yea to bad Heidi K wasn't there, but I did notice in the pic on the right, the Blogger Jon Valdez from orangejuiceandbiscuits.com was there standing under the sign so I thought that was cool. He's no Heidi, but I guess Jonny V will do since he's entertaining.

Sean Bell Street re-naming & Run DMC JMJ Way both done by same politician. Awesome!

PR does not deserve a street until Tim, Nina and/or Michael attempts to run over a police officer.

Fashion show on Project Runway Avenue was followed by a gun show on Sean Bell Street.

It took Sesame Street 40 YEARS to get a street dedication and it took Project Runway a couple of seasons. What's WRONG with this picture?!

Project Runway is only getting the street named temporarily. Sesame Street is permanent.

Sesame Street wasn't permanent and neither is Project Runway. The issue is that the honor should be earned equally as a point of distinction and I don't think Project Runway is there yet (or ever will be).

Tim Gunn, your fashion sense is impeccable- Imma letchu finish, but Sean Bell had the best street renaming ever.
