Dems Take Aim At Espada With "Napoleon Dynamite" Knock-Offs

2010_1_espadatee.jpg

Remember State Sen. Pedro Espada — the embattled Bronx Democrat who put Republicans in power when he shifted party affiliation? Remember "Napoleon Dynamite" — the movie that wasn't nearly as funny as people thought it was? Well now you can have a tee-shirt that will forever link the two.

The Manhattan Young Democrats are selling "Don't Vote For Pedro" tee-shirts that pay homage to the flick and Espada — who after giving Republicans the edge decided to return to the Democratic Party. The Bronx News Network aptly points out that none of the Manhattan Young Democrats "can actually vote for Pedro Espada, seeing as he represents the 33rd Senate district in the Bronx," and no one in the district can vote for anyone else, because Espada still has no challengers.

The Manhattan Young Democrats have apparently been selling the tees for $20 apiece for months, with any profits "to be used AGAINST Pedro Espada Jr.’s 2010 campaign, if such a thing actually materializes." Otherwise the proceeds will go to "another Democratic cause."

What's more important here, the misspelling or the actual news being reported? Hmmm...
