Man On Subway Tracks Saved In The Nick Of Time

phpn5ype3PM.jpg

Early this morning Sean McCarthy spotted a man down on the subway tracks, Twittering: "man passed out in the tracks on 6 line southbound at 23rd st. Alerted MTA but still had to wave down train. Phew! Too close." After that he uploaded this image from the scene, saying: "Train arrived before the medics did. Thank God the conductor saw me!"

It's unclear whether the passed out man was drunk, but it reminds us of this inebriated lady who fell on the tracks in Boston a few months ago.

At first read, I thought it said that the man on the tracks was twittering. Wouldn't surprise me.

I'm glad this person ended up okay, but I'm really getting tired of drunk people falling onto the tracks in systems like NY and Boston, getting hurt/killed, and suing/family suing the transit orgs for tax dollars in settlement... People have a right to get drunk, but they don't have a right to my tax dollars when they get themselves hurt doing stupid shit like this.

I really wanted to see that operator here in Boston to sue the drunk woman - who had fallen onto the tracks because she lost her balance trying to put her cigarette butt out - for emotional damage or something... Just once, I want a driver to sue someone just to send a message to people that you can't just do stupid shit and not take responsibility for it.

That's also what I read on first pass...

Your use of the term "lady" to the woman in that video is too kind.

    Indeed...
