Artie Lange Out Of Hospital, Welcomed Back To "Stern"
Yesterday the sad news came out that Howard Stern sidekick and comedian Artie Lange attempted suicide over the weekend by stabbing himself nine times. His mother found him in his Hoboken apartment around 9:30 a.m. Saturday morning. Wishing the incident hadn't hit the press, Stern addressed it on his show once it did (listen below), saying in part: "I'm pissed off that this story got out there. I'm pissed off at the shithead who maybe got paid 10 bucks to tip off Page Six."
Lange has reportedly now been released from Jersey City Medical Center after undergoing surgery. The police told E! News that Lange's mother "called 911 when she found him in a pool of blood. He was semiconscious [and] then became unconscious." The wounds were from a 13-inch kitchen knife.
Co-worker Robin Quivers says, "He's doing well, physically." And according to the NY Times, Sirius has said Lange would remain a part of “The Howard Stern Show” and is welcome back once he's recovered from his hospitalization.

Howard Stern is hardly irrelevant. More people still listen to him daily than watch Letterman. It breaks my heart just to think how f#@*ed up you have to be to stab yourself nine times. I hope that Artie get the help he needs and is able to see that his life has value. I hope that he and his family pay no attention to the sick a-holes out there who think that this is something to joke about.

Who's Howard Stern?
Boy oh boy...hope he is enjoying all that money while being irrelevant.

I actually have Artie Lang in my death pool. So close. This feels like when the Yankees lost the 2001 world series.

Amazing, this from a guy who called Air Florida after Flight 90 crashed into the 14th street bridge in January of 82 and asked the price of a one-way ticket to the 14th Street Bridge.
talk about the King of all hypocrisy.

Not to mention Howard reads from Page Six just about every day. If this happened to anyone else, he and Artie would be mocking them and wondering aloud who had them in the "death pool".
I like Howard because he pushes boundaries and is able to laugh at himself, but to act outraged that his famous co-host's suicide was made public is completely hypocritical. He is one of the people most responsible for the voyeur culture we live in.

I think Artie needs to get out of Hoboken. When I lived there, I was pretty depressed myself!
schadenfreudian mensch
I don't see how. He had all the drugs and prosties at his disposal in Hoboken.

Will they try to get help for Artie Lange or will they just stand back and watch as his self-destructive behavior leads to his death, like they did with Hank the Angry Drunken Dwarf?

FEEL BETTER ARTIE!!!
Like Howard said, we ALL have our demons.
Glad he's gonna make it. Hoepfully, he can get some help.

Does medical coverage cover suicide attempts?
schadenfreudian mensch
Well life insurance don't pay out in successful suicide I don't see why medical insurance should pay. And beside it's a pre existing condition so def his medical isn't going to cover it.

my life insurace policy allows me to commit suicide after the 2 yrs my family will get paid
FrankMartin
mine pays too. Still tough to feel good about that scenario

Since he'll probably try again, Howard can make Artie's suicidal tendencies into another running gag.

Does anyone know what came first: Artie's hiatus from the show, or the rumors that Jim Breuer would be replacing him?

Artie..you so crazy!

i am surprised at the genuine emotion expressed by Stern over this issue.

I was going to reply but you said it much better than me.
he's pissed, pissed at page six.
OT, I've worked at a media company and there were rumblings that page six would pay for a tip, how do they do that?
