Last Night's Action: How Young is Brodeur?

2010_01_lna0106.jpg
Martin Brodeur watches the puck sail by his head in the 3rd period.

  • Devils 4, Stars 0: Martin Brodeur made 28 saves to earn another shutout as the Devils romped past the Stars. Brodeur, who set the NHL record for shutouts this season, has five on the campaign and 106 for his career. Patrik Elias had two goals, and Travis Zajac and Zach Parise had the others. Both the Rangers and the Islanders play the Stars later this week, so they should have been taking notes.
  • Bucks 98, Nets 76: What did this game teach us? Everyone knew the Nets stink. But we can still learn from them. Tuesday's game proved it is possible for a 7-foot center (Yi Jianlian) to play almost 31 minutes and have only two rebounds. He did have 22 points, but, of course, it wasn't enough.

huge ranger fan hate the devils hate brodeur but the guy is unbelievable if he was a ranger he would hav ebeen one of the biggest sports stars nyc and this country have ever seen but since he plays for the devils nobody cares

  • Guest

Not true. If Brodeur had played for the Rangers, I think most of the country would not have cared. Except for this little area in the Northeast, most of the country despises New York teams. The fact that he plays for the Devils, has won 3 Cups, and has more class than the entire (current) Rangers team, means the country definitely cares.

Brodeur is amazing... It must kill Ranger fans that he has been this good for so long. Watching the bloated Ranger fans pouring into Penn Station with their Richter jerseys stretched out over their enormous guts is disgusting.

  • Guest

Although Richter was good, he was extremely overrated, kinda like Felix Potvin. He was not the reason the Rangers won the Cup. Leetch and Messier are the reasons the Rangers won the Cup.

  • Teddie Boy Eddie

Actually, no, it doesn't kill me and many others at all. I used to think Marty was the second or third best goaltender I ever saw. But over the past two years it has become clear he is the best we've ever seen and are likely to see.

Bloated Rangers' fans? As if the fatass suburbanites that sometimes show up for Devils games aren't bloated.

  • gtraindelay

Marty is a beast. The Devils look great this year.

    The Nets... not so much.

    New Jersey?

    Sports?

    Who here could possibly care?

The only time New jersey sports matters here is when they're shooting or running down one of our citizens.

Otherwise, it's just overgrown high preschoolers in overpriced playgrounds.

  • spiritross

    DON'T MESS WITH THE DEVILS!

  • changcheung

How about those New Jersey Jets & New Jersey Giants?

  • gtraindelay

Meh - don't worry about it - the majority of his comments are Anti-Jersey. Whenever there is a Devils / Nets post he says the same thing.

That said - Go Devils! And keep the updates coming Gothamist!
