Mayor Bloomberg shells out $9 to City Clerk Michael Sweeney For those of you not nursing a hangover—or needing a hangover cure—consider tuning into this year's inauguration at City Hall. Mayor Bloomberg will be sworn in for a third time, while City Councilman Bill de Blasio will become the new Public Advocate and City Councilman John Liu will be the new City Comptroller. All three men signed their oaths of office yesterday (and paid fees to the City Clerk), but they'll give speeches today. Speeches, people!
Things are supposed to get underway at noon—NYC.gov has a live webcast and you can also watch the ceremony on NY1. And as previously noted, Bloomberg isn't having a splashy inaugural party befitting a $102 million mayoral campaign but will be volunteering in all five boroughs today (in Staten Island, he'll be assembling care packages for soldiers). And NY1 reports, "A chorus from P.S. 22 in Staten Island will perform the Jay-Z song 'Rule This Town' and a Juilliard-trained cellist who performs in the subway will perform 'America The Beautiful.'"
