Sleeping Rikers Prison Guard Is Serial Snoozer

Maybe she'll try for a narcolepsy defense? The Rikers Island Correctional Officer who was depicted sleeping on the job in this classic, almost cliche jail photo just can't keep her eyes open. Nadja Green has been busted for napping while guarding once before, according to the Post, which is teasing this story out like a burlesque dancer's boa. Sadly, there's no instant classic photo of Green's previou sleep violation, but this does complicate things for our snoring C.O.

Officials told the tabloid that Green was suspended for 30 days because of the "egregiousness of her failures," and now the department wants to fire her. And the co-worker who snapped the incriminating pic, Claudel Barrau, is also on the hot seat. He was suspended for 30 days without pay, because cellphones are not allowed in the facility—especially when they're used to embarrass the Correction Department!

Bankers and Wall Street rip us off to the tune of Billions and one commenter worries about the CO getting paid for a 30 day suspension (DUH).

This same person is worried about a Union representing her wow, yet no mention of the War Criminals of the last administration walking free, no mention of the Bankers and Financiers who STOLE BILLIONS from America, no we worry about a little CO in a boring job. Hell give her a pay raise and a paid two week vacation to Hawaii.

Please inform her she is now a republican (do this at a safe distance to prevent bodily harm).

When they go after Wall Street and the bankers I will support any action against this woman until then discipline her reward her and put her in a different position

Is it customary for prisoners at Rikers Island to wander around the institution--and have their pictures taken with sleeping guards?

All Rikers Island officers sneak their cell phones on to their posts, and yes, ALL of them sleep during work time (not to mention smoke, text, have sex, etc.) With regarding to smoking and texting, this is especially true of Ms. Allen and Ms. Mendez from RMSC.. dorm 17B (ITU unit). HOw do they get away with it? Simple: When a captain is approaching, the cell block will get a call from the last block and be notified "Captain Walking".. this gives the officers time to wake up, hide the cell phones and whatever else they're doing.

...but I'm sure they can't fire her because she's union and getting paid in full during her 30 day suspension for not doing her job properly.

Someone please prove me wrong, but there's a slim chance of that.
