Christmas Miracle For One Family

The holidays are upon us and here's a feelgood story to go along with all the Christmas cheer. 1010Wins reports that a New York City businessman and philanthropist gave one of their listeners an early present this year in the form of $10,000.

Leonard Santorelli was moved to donate the cash to the Kuefner family after hearing about their tragic story on the station. Last July 46-year-old Joseph Kuefner was hit by a drunk, and high, driver near his Long Island home. Though he's now out of a coma, he suffered brain damage and is in rehab; he says he's "not like I used to be." The family (which includes his wife and two kids) is suffering through financial problems, with growing medical bills and one less family member able to work.

Enter Santorelli! He says, "While I am enjoying many blessings: family, friends, health and good fortune, the Kuefners have suffered terribly. Hopefully, this will ease some of the burden for Joseph, Louise, and their two children." This isn't his first time donating after hearing a story on 1010Wins, either! To quote Joseph Kuefner's wife, "There's still good people in this world."

Meanwhile, last week the driver who caused the tragedy, 46-year-old Sean Dolan, was sentenced to 2-6 years.

Correction: the gift was from one of their listeners, not for one of their listeners.

The sad thing is that $10k will make barely a dent in the family's finances. They really should figure out some way to take it out of the driver's hide for the rest of his sorry life. I assume a civil suit is pending against the jerk.

Cheers to Mr. Santorelli for his random act of kindness!

not a miracle, but a nice gesture indeed.
