Video: Kittens Probably Just Like Playing "Surprise"
By now, many people have seen the adorable surprised kitten video at least a hundred times each (and will probably watch it another hundred times because IT'S SO DARN CUTE). Our friend, veterinarian Dr. Peter Soboroff of the New York Cat Hospital, believes that the kitten's surprise-while-being-tickled is a normal postural play response. He sent us this video of a kitten that had been under his care—watch Magellan the tabby play "surprise"!
Magellan was previously up for adoption but not anymore—clearly, his cuteness was irresistible.

If Gothamist posted nothing but kitty surprise videos I would be a very satisfied reader.

Does anyone really think the kitten was "playing surprise?" It's pretty obvious kittehs just doing a defense posture thing. Still cute though.

yeah, they're definitely fighting for their fucking lives, i don't see what's so funny about it and in fact IT'S SICKENING that we're making their little kitten hearts nearly EXPLODE with fear for our entertainment.

I have no idea what point you are trying to make.

You have got to be kidding me.
If the animal were afraid for its life, it'd let the human know. With teeth.
