Barney's Is Headed To Brooklyn

barneysnyc1209.jpg Is Cobble Hill slated to be the luxury department store mecca of Brooklyn? Crain's is reporting that the trendy shop is planning to open in the neighborhood (though nothing is confirmed)—this would be their 5th store in the city (with three Co-Op stores in Manhattan, and their Madison Avenue flagship). One real estate expert told the site that: “Brooklyn is a logical move for them." Hopefully Brooklyn will also be the next logical move for Apple... but what other shops does the borough "need" that it's currently missing?

The need for an Apple store in BK is verging on dire.

Would be great to have an adorama or B&H camera store

We also need a major office supply store like staples in south brooklyn/downtown/dumbo area

    Williamsburg needs a movie theater!

    More 24/7 grocery/pharmacies

So basically what you are saying is the areas mentioned suck big time and you are amazed that people actually live there.

A Duane Reade on 5th Ave. between (at least) 3rd and Flatbush. There, I said it. I don't care if it takes over a yarn store or cat spa, give me my Duane Reade on 5th.

On the same stretch: a decent bodega that sells beer and is open all night. The all-night one near me is booze-free.

Perhaps a Cabella's sporting goods store. I hear they have specials on hand guns and ammo that you can't find anywhere else.

Since it's owned by Dubai World, Barneys will no doubt be building a 105 story shop with a dancing fountain and a "seven star" hotel.

i know this is obviously the least problematic problem of all time, but there isn't a really good big box housewares & home decor store anywhere near the downtown brooklyn neighborhoods. it would be cool to have a crate & barrel or pottery barn or something in the vicinity. first world problems!
