Video: SNL Offers Gossip Girl Staten Island

With Blake Lively as host of Saturday Night Live last night, the show decided to skewer the CW drama with Gossip Girl Staten Island. A CW voiceover explained, "If you like the intrigue of Gossip Girl but hate the sophistication of Manhattan, you'll love Gossip Girl Staten Island." The Staten Island girls have big hair, high heels and wear tight jeans, while the Staten Island guys really like calzones and to woo women in the bathroom of the Staten Island Ferry—hey, it's veering into Jersey Shore territory!

Lame. SNL hasn't been funny since the mid-90's.

It's the same as the Bensonhurst accent. Here is a better version of the accent.

this was the only funny skit, I was hoping for some blake bitties. and it's true, they all went to so and so "academy".

I concur. The Muppets thing in the beginning was funny for a second, but the rest of the show sucked.

The first time I meet somebody from SI (let's say a "high heeled" SI type of girl with serious attitude), I thought she had a speech impediment, then after couple of months, after moving to NY, I understood it was an accent.

The provincialism of NY natives protects the accent in spite of the massive amounts of migrants.
