[UPDATE BELOW] 8:30 a.m. Eep, NYC Transit is warning, "Due to a rail condition at the Queensboro Plaza Station, there is no service in both directions on the N trains from the Queensboro Plaza Station to the Astoria-Ditmars Boulevard Station," plus the "W train service has been suspended the entire line." There are shuttle trains running local from the Queensboro Plaza Station to the Astoria-Ditmars Boulevard Station and shuttle trains running express from Ditmars Boulevard to Queensboro Plaza, but "As an alternative, customers are advised to take Q69, Q101 or Q102 bus making nearby station stops."

9:40 a.m.: Now NYC Transit says all service is running normally, but reader Jessica Pearson sent us this photograph of the chaos that had ensued. She writes, "People trying to go to Manhattan [had to] take a Ditmars bound train to Astoria Blvd and transfer to a Manhattan bound train. MTA workers [were] misinformed and told a lot of people to stay on wrong side of the track."

Service is fine now. Made it to Midtown in a normal amount of time.

this happens so often that i am literally laughing out loud that this is news. maybe not the wrong side of the track thing, but that's not even a huge deal. that line is either skipping all stops between queensboro plaza and astoria blvd or knocked out completely maybe 30% of the time, more so on weekends.

i'd say this map more or less aligns with gothamist's awareness of the city save shootings in the bronx and queens, maybe it can be jen carlson's "map of the day" unless it's already been posted here:

what are you talking about? my commute this morning was an absolute bitch, but it hasn't been this bad in probably a year. at least on the weekends, the changes are scheduled, signs are posted and occasionally the workers know what the deal is if you failed to see ahead of time that there were problems.

this is not at all the same as weekend service disruptions!

It that meant to say shuttle buses or trains, cause if its trains, whats the problem?

  • boogpowell

It meant to say shuttle trains as the N/W usually have several stops between ditmars and qboro. They are not making these stops today. So a shuttle train is running from ditmars to qboro, no stops. The main problem is no N/W are running through to Queens. They are running N's on the 7 line so people can get through. Annoying, but when is the subway not annoying.
