Time Warner Cable Down in Brooklyn, Queens

phptRu9LsAM.jpg Did you try to get your morning dose of Pat Kiernan before heading out the door this morning only to be met by the black screen of death? Time Warner Cable is down in Brooklyn, and parts of Queens, for at least a few hours. We called to find out more but their phone is busy, or off the hook, or something.

However, NY1 is reporting that "several thousand Time Warner Cable customers in Brooklyn and Queens have lost video service after high winds knocked down a Queens power line."

The good news is that internet is still working... for now. Although this past week it was down in parts of Brooklyn for six days, which had both FIPS and the Brooklynians ranting about TWC's service.

Well as of right now my cable is still out here in Greenpoint. Figure if it lasts through tomorrow TWC is getting a call and I'm getting myself a credit.

  • Falulah Baker

Thanks, Jeff. How about a partial refund since people aren't getting what they paid for ?

  • bittycakes

So *that's* what happened! My internet was fine but I had no news to watch while I got ready. And god damn Pat Kiernan looks hot there!!!!!

  • Thanks for letting me know we weren't the only ones. I just talked to husband and it's up now (we live in Greenpoint). P.S. What's up with this pic of PK sans shirt?

  • I meant "open shirt." Wishful thinking, I guess!

    YES!

  • theevilone

During "In the Papers" he covered a WSJ article about men wearing their shirts open. Yes please, Pat Kiernan!

  • babyhitler

goddamn it. COMCAST has just bought out NBC UNIVERSAL from GE.

  • babyhitler

internets back. Thank God. I was in the middle of dowloading my daily porn intake. I'm irritable if I don't give my undercarriage a bit of a "how's your father?"

Hi - I'm the director of digital communications for Time Warner Cable. NY1 is correct, high winds knocked a ConEd cable onto one of our fiber cables and burned it out, taking out video only for our Brooklyn and Queens customers. As of right this minute, we have restored 50% of our service to the affected customers and are hard at work on the other 50%. We're sorry for the inconvenience, and appreciate your patience.

Did wind also knock out your customer support line?

  • Unrelated: I really like this new customer-relations communication tool. Thanks for the update, Jeff. Your job is important to us.

  • hotstepper

pay no attention to the man behind the curtain.

  • maevemealone

RCN never goes down. But the downside is you don't get NY1 or Pat Kiernan...

  • Bryan

RCN in Queens IS down too! I have no services at all.

  • keithk

But I noticed that C-SPAN was still up and running. Does C-SPAN have some more robust connection, for use in an emergency or something?

  • zodak

    dish network ftw!

  • em

This is actually kind of awesome! I turned on my TV and the image is all scrambled and pixelated like a video art piece. I'm just leaving it on with some music--I should submit this to MoMa!

  • eyekantspel

I love how they just turn the "24 hour service" phone line off so everyone who calls just gets a busy signal. Now that's service!

  • TooTallJeff

Monopolies suck. When can we get some real competition for these clowns.
