When I told my wife, a CUNY prof, about the argument that Barron had with a CUNY trustee, she replied: "Was it Wiesenfeld?" She hadn't heard the news, but she figured that it was him. She didn't use the word "redneck," but she used a term that was at least as strong. Let's not forget that these trustees have been appointed by Giuliani, Pataki and Bloomberg (only one appointed by Paterson), so most of them are right-wingers. Their decisions almost always hurt CUNY and it's good that Barron, faculty and students stand up against the right-wing.
