Bouncer Beatdown at Jay-Z's 40/40 Club

Jay-Z's 40/40 Club in Manhattan has seen some trouble in the past, but nothing compared to what his Atlantic City branch is about to see. His club's security beat down two patrons over the weekend, and of course it was caught on tape (by DJ Zeke who performed at the club that night):

Police say charges will be filed against a few of the nine bouncers, according to 1010Wins. And the two men were charged with disorderly conduct for their behavior inside the club... though they claim they did nothing wrong. 26-year-old Tyrell Durant and his friend Leonard Clark were there to celebrate Clark's birthday — they say they just ordered a $15 plate of chicken at the bar "when a bouncer who had just ejected someone else from the club told him to move. Clark protested, saying he was waiting for his food," and a bouncer escorted him and Durant out of the club. The two were then beaten, and also claim they were sprayed in the face by a fire extinguisher, and had a watch and cash stolen from them.

Staten Island's DJ Zeke caught it all on tape, saying, "I was disgusted by it. As a DJ, you see fights all the time. But to see bouncers lose it like this — they just lost it."

As a person who provides security in nite spots in the NYC area find a small percentage of patrons that ruin it for the large part that really just come out to have fun. That small percentage are rude, inpolite, discourteous, bad-mannered, uncouth, offensive, foul and vulger, but u folks what to come out and step on the ones who is there to protect u and ensure that u leave out safe. As a professional person who has been providing security services in clubs for over 13 have seen many things from over abusive bouncers to stupid patrons, but at the end of the day its just a job where no one should to be beaten up for acting like a asshole (men and women alike) a bouncer should never put their hands on a person unless attacked. And u folks who come to clubs with guns and other weapons cause ur less then a man, u get what u get. stop killing bouncers and treat us like humans u will get treated that same...by the way for those who think and feel we are uneducated thugs...i hold to levels of college degree's...let's have fun n be safe out there we are only doing ours jobs

  • That was quiet interesting!

  • im'a take care dis shit.

A bouncer is supposed to keep the peace. They shouldn't ever be punching restrained men in the back of the head.

  • luckmagnet

oh, and next time Zeke wants to talk to the world, he should get out of his jammies

  • luckmagnet

They were all a bunch of fat fucks, obviously no one had any martial arts "training" the majority of their punches didnt connect, and that skinny busta rhymes wanna be was a bitch. The guys could have just run, those fat bitches wouldnt have been able to catch up.

  • 5borough

That guy took a lot of cheap shots and stayed up a long time. At least the guy who seemed to be the manager tried to reel in those thugs.

  • Snoopy

Did anyone get a look at these alleged perps? Were they Korean or Mexicans? Was a basketball, a watermelon, or fried chicken involved with this assault?

40/40 like in drinking "Forties"? A classy culture to say the least.

  • sadpanda

Wrong. 40-40 as in 40 runs and 40 stolen bases. A classy culture indeed.

  • longacre

It doesn't look like any of those thugs knew how to throw a punch...confirmed by the fact that he got hit a couple dozen times and was still standing until someone finally trip/tackled him.

  • NannyState

Seriously. I thought they were clownin'.

  • neckbeard

What do bouncers and fingers have in common? It takes 5 of them to punch somebody.

  • longacre

What did the five fingers say to the face? SLAP!

Any bar or club that requires the use of bouncers should tell you that they have some problems. If you can’t see that, you deserve a beat down just to get it into your thick head. If you know and accept the possibility that those establishments draw trouble, then as a free thinking American with the power of personal choice; go for it. Don’t complain after you find yourself at the end of a closed fist. Next time go to Chili’s and order the enchilada supreme and a margarita, hold the beat down.

  • JenChungsBaby

Gotta agree with you on that. Any establishment that has more than the standard one or two bouncers checking IDs at the door is not a place I want to go. I've been to probably hundreds of bars and have only ever witnessed one bar fight, and never went back there again.

  • Snoopy

    Wasn't Dick Clark a DJ?

  • NannyState

Yes, and he was known for his sweet strokes.

  • kazubes

That's terrible but god the guy that shot this video is such a disgusting opportunist. He could care less, its just a great newsworthy clip to promote his crappy DJ'ing

  • FDTW

Yeah, he should have just stood there and watched. Shame on him for using his (minor) celebrity to film without being beaten himself and then use the internet to draw attention to an injustice. What an asshole.

  • thefacts

Never take anyone seriously who uses "could care less" when meaning "couldn't care less.'
