Yeah I read that Times piece a few days ago and frankly I can hardly believe they printed it. He arrives too late, misses his flight because he's too dumb to ask where his gate is, and then JetBlue compensates him! Then his response is to print this letter in the Times. They shouldn't have given him jack shit.
If the Government doesn't prosecute the Salahis. The next couple or person that bluffs their way into a presidential event where they weren't invited may have an agenda that could be dangerous.
What law(s) did they break?
The law of basic respect. We'd be better off if self-serving, fame-whore c*nts everywhere actually learned some.
the secret service falls under the dept of homeland security. to lie to the secret service is the same as lying to the DOHS. lying to the DOHS is considered fraud and a major felony. regardless of whether or not the secret service screwed up, the salahi's clearly lied and i for one hope they throw the book at them.
enough is enough already with people scheming to become reality show stars. i applauded when the henne's were found guilty, and i most certainly will applaud when these two schmucks are found guilty.
it is important to send a loud and clear message to the throngs of morons who are looking to make money by being reality stars that this kind of reckless and potentially dangerous self-promotion will not stand.
It's not quite accurate to say that lying to the Secret Service or to the DHS is always a crime, but there are circumstances under which it can be. Without knowing all the facts it's hard to say whether those circumstances existed in their case.
But here's a possibility, 18 USC ยง1036: "Entry by false pretenses to any real property, vessel, or aircraft of the United States or secure area of any airport."

It could bring up to six months in prison on its own. If done with intent to commit a felony (which wouldn't seem to be case here), the maximum is five years.
since i forgot i need to be specific, here are some specifics:
1) By law, the Secret Service is authorized to protect:
* The president, the vice president, (or other individuals next in order of succession to the Office of the President), the president-elect and vice president-elect
* The immediate families of the above individuals
* Former presidents, their spouses, except when the spouse re-marries
* Children of former presidents until age 16
* Visiting heads of foreign states or governments and their spouses traveling with them, other distinguished foreign visitors to the United States, and official representatives of the United States performing special missions abroad
* Major presidential and vice presidential candidates, and their spouses within 120 days of a general presidential election
* Other individuals as designated per Executive Order of the President and
* National Special Security Events, when designated as such by the Secretary of the Department of Homeland Security
and 2)Under Title 18, Section 3056, of the United States Code, agents and officers of the United States Secret Service can:
* Carry firearms
* Execute warrants issued under the laws of the United States
* Make arrests without warrants for any offense against the United States committed in their presence, or for any felony recognizable under the laws of the United States if they have reasonable grounds to believe that the person to be arrested has committed such felony
* Offer and pay rewards for services and information leading to the apprehension of persons involved in the violation of the law that the Secret Service is authorized to enforce
* Investigate fraud in connection with identification documents, fraudulent commerce, fictitious instruments and foreign securities and
* Perform other functions and duties authorized by law
making false statements to a federal agent is FRAUD and is so recognized by all security branches of the government. these douches should have taken the interviews while they had the chance, because now the only interviews they're going to be privy to are going to be in the backrooms of maximum security buildings.
I suspect that lying to a Secret Service official is probably against some law somewhere--and if it isn't, it should be.
Please, don't ask the idiots questions they cannot answer.
Maybe they could get a reality show, and it would be about them being tried, convicted, and penalized.
The Salahi story gets better/scarier: They also crashed a Congressional Black Caucus event in Sept. at which Obama gave a speech. They snuck in via the kitchen and presumably they were never searched by the Secret Service.

"concerns that Islamic fundamentalist ideas could lead to the establishment of parallel societies."
That is one of the best concerns I've heard of in decades. Perhaps the US of A can follow same.
This had better be followed by laws banning crosses, stars, flags, and the golden arches.
NO MORE HIPSTER GRIFTER PLZ!!!! :''-(
Let's have the government interrogate a couple of gate crashers since this is serious business, but lay off questioning Bush, Cheney, Rice, Rumsfeld, Powell for the motivation behind committing our country to 2 illegal wars and the suspension of our Constitutional rights.
ah to be young again... do a little bit of homework and you'll see that the bush administration is not the first one to escape any legal ramifications for their actions... wouldn't future administrations, including this one, be just as responsible and culpable if they continued to carry on the protocol established by bush and co.?
but hey, no need to worry, at least your parents are paying for you to be in new york and you just got that brand new che shirt, so life is good.
