Mayor: Sex Trafficking Victims, Please Speak Up

2009_11_phone.jpg After yesterday's horrifying reports that a Brooklyn couple allegedly kept a young Mexican immigrant hostage and forced her into prostitution (not to mention refusing care for her baby, who eventually died), Mayor Bloomberg said victims of sex trafficking should call 311 or 911, "Whatever your documentation status is, no matter what your situation is, you don't have to worry about it. We all have an obligation to help each other, and if somebody really is being trafficked, you've got to make that phone call... You're not putting yourself at risk. You are helping other people."

Now that Bloomberg bought his 3rd term. there will be more blood and tears than ever under his administration. My only comfort is that I tried my best against Bloomberg. Now, I can only tell people not to buy the NY Post, NY Daily News and the NY times and put them ALL out of business. They should ALL be trial for Treason.

why does gothamist not allow legit news links but anybody can blogspam comments, theres an big uptick in this recently.

CBX has a good point, our magnanimou mayor was only confronted with this while doling out turkey at a soup kitchen, without the baby in the cement scandal it wouldnt make the news except for a small blurb prostitution bust, where all the hookers underage or not would be tried criminally. but bloombum is forced to lie and act all concerned because he was asked an 'inappropriate' question, im sure that reporter is now on the mayors crap list.

  • HOTCUP

i'm not convinced, you need more caps lock.

i can't believe anybody unless i can imagine them screaming at my face point blank.

    GOT THAT?

  • felixthecat2

He had good points but you seem to make it a point to miss it. shame.

  • JacqueMehoff

the only paper that had some criticism on bloomberg was the Voice and even then it seemed held back.

I hope the middle class and associated small business can handle the next four years.

all this gun control and sex trafficking stuff is all BS.

OH YEAH: HOW does anyone omit the deadly fact that Bloomberg and his world's largest police force have been working to "solve" this serious problem for 8 years.

It's going pretty well, right Jen?

Just like Bloomberg's anti-gun PR charade, right?

Only a "few" kids were killed by stray bullets after 8 years of the naked emperor's hard work, right?

EVERY REPORTER KNOWS THEY ARE LYING TO PROTECT BLOOMBERG.

Does anyone recall all the major articles before the election about how Bloombag had failed at almost everything he did?

The media is the root of all evil. They protect criminals in exchange for a paycheck.

WHY WASN'T THE HEADLINE ABOVE CRITICAL OF THE MAN IN CHARGE OF SOLVING THIS PROBLEM????

    Exactly.

  • longacre

This is a problem that goes far beyond the scope of the NYPD. Federal authorities are responsible for protection of the borders, not the NYPD, which has enough on its plate.

  • felixthecat2

Bloomberg allows illegals sanctuary in NYC and has little respect for the Rule of Law, and has no business spouting off about the need for prosecutions regarding other violations of the Penal Code.

  • inoyourider

"When a person is insane, as you clearly are, do you know that you're insane? Maybe you're just sitting around, reading "Guns and Ammo", masturbating in your own feces, do you just stop and go, "Wow! It is amazing how fucking crazy I really am!"?

  • felixthecat2

Instead of refuting his solid points, you insult him. Lame

    EX:

Bloombag says he spent billions of YOUR taxdollars to build affordable housing, yet it WOULD HAVE cost you only ZERO DOLLARS to simply MAINTAIN the 300,000 affordable apartments that Team Bloombag and their greedy developer pals ELIMINATED in the last 8 years!

Bloomberg did this to move all of them out of manhattan and into the outer boroughs. The sad part is that a lot of them were elderly who now live in areas that are unsafe, neglected, unclean with unaccessible transportation.

  • inoyourider

There are no points only babbling, much like your BS.

  • felixthecat2

  • Mr Mel

Bloomberg is not the problem here.

  • cxb

Yet another serious issue the media covers up to protect the naked Emperor.

    FACT:

if we can find ONE female who was pushed into the sex industry b/c she couldn't pay her outrageous rents---and no human did more to eliminate affordable housing than Tax Hike Mike----then Bloombag is partially responsible.

(Hitler killed no one. His POLICIES did the damage.)

It's far worse than i'm implying.

    GOT THAT?

It cost NOT A CENT to merely keep the 300,000 rent-stabilized units Crook Bloomberg helped axe. (Don't get me started on Stuy Town. That alone proves Bloomberg to be the worst mayor in NYC history.) (At this point, Giuliani no longer even comes close to the super-criminal Bloomberg.)

AND THE MEDIA CONTINUES TO PROTECT THE NAKED EMPEROR.

You want to know why NYC is so expensive AND bankrupt?

    Ask Jen CHung.

    She knows exactly why.

speaking of this article and the related incident though, this is like the dark f*cking ages. i mean, i thought slavery ended a while ago.

will legalizing prostitution help? i mean, what are we supposed to do when there're people de-evolved enough to treat other humans as pieces of meat?

    in f*cking new york???

  • potsmoker

all sex workers are treated as criminals underage or not, documented or not.

    bloomberg is lying by omission.

he never said you will not face prosecution, but hes choosing his words carefully to imply that only victims of sex trafficking deserve protection, whats the rescue program a free condo, free education, free health care and a hybrid car? hes just saying we dont ask about your INS status but your on your own after that.

bloombum is lying to the naive, thats why he only doles out mashed potatoes at a soup kitchen at Thanksgiving and is speaking to us during a photo opp created by his PR team to look like he really gives a crap.

  • potsmoker

im confused, when is a prostitute a victim of sex trafficking? if all women will be treated as victims of sex crimes or trafficking then bloomberg is giving amnesty to prostitutes? is prostitution now legalized based on bloombergs blanket victim status.

    Bloomberg is a hyprocrite.

  • Well, the male part of the couple allegedly duped the woman—who was 15 at the time—into coming to the country (he got her pregnant in Mexico, said it would be better in the U.S., etc).
