Stuy Pyro Leaves Notes In Hieroglyphics

Just days after a student was suspended from Stuyvesant High School for allegedly setting fires, investigators say a copycat arsonist has been lighting blazes in the esteemed Lower Manhattan school — and taunting police in hieroglyphics.

According to the Daily News, the new arsonist, from now on known as the Hiero Pyro, has set blazes in a 10th-floor bathroom and an eighth-floor bathroom trashcan this week. The arsonist has left notes for cops, one of them in hieroglyphics, and another reading: "I'm smart enough — you can't catch me."

Stuyvesant physical education teacher Phil Fisher blamed the fires on "a couple of teenagers with too much time on their hands. Obviously, we have a couple of pyros around here." But the father of 16-year-old Mohammed Hassan — a junior who was suspended from school and charged in connection with last week's fires — says this week's blazes are a sign of his son's innocence. "They don't have anything — the fires are still going on so this proves it," he said. "It's totally, completely racial."

Gotta love the Stuy arrogance.

They'll catch this one aswell.

You will only find pyros taunting police with Hieroglyphics at Stuyvesant High School. After working with those kids for a while, it's easy to see how some of them are so smart they can be driven into insanity.

""I'm smart enough — you can't catch me."

Ted Kozinski, the Unabomber, with his 167 IQ, said the same thing. He too was a nutter.

hieroglyphics is a cute touch, i wanna see what this kid looks like.

Not that impressive in this day and age. You can find all sorts of information about hieroglyphs online and there are even online translators that can do the work for you. Remember, there was a Stuy student who commented here on a post about cheating that he felt it was absolutely indispensible. This arsonist isn't necessarily smart. Hope they catch him and end his career hopes as well as his delusions of superiority.

He's the smaller figure next to the owl in the big cartouche...self-esteem problems.

Wanted some extra vacation time.

"They don't have anything — the fires are still going on so this proves it,"

It's a pretty good bet Hassan's father isn't Stuyvesant material. Just because somebody else is doing it now doesn't prove your son didn't do it before. He should shut up before he really sticks his foot in his mouth and complicates his son's situation further.

He's trying to draw out The Batman -- it's quite obvious.

Hey coppers: Poll the parents; see which ones have taken away their child's Wii recently; there's your culprit. You're welcome.

bc

dude's been watching too much Lost.

16... hmm. maybe he did it to catch a girl's attention?
she's probably glad that she's been ignoring him the whole time.

... or maybe he caught her making out with another guy.

wow more fires?

hilarious! i guess the dropped charges months and months later after trying to get a plea deal against him will not make the news.

This kind of thing has been going on at Stuyvesant forever. In 2005 a string of bathroom fires got so severe that administration locked all but one of the boys' restrooms, and that one had to be monitored. Around the same time, there was a spat of mirror smashing. Oh, and there was someone tossing urine all over the stairwells and hallways.

Smart kids. Gotta love them.

Brings back the memories of public HS. All but 1 bathroom locked, so stairs were urinals, sometimes crappers too. Girls room was a hotbox. Mens was a shooting room. There was a group of kids that made the fire alarm ring more than the bell. Its was super for finals. Dont remember any fires to get out of class and tests.

How can we blame this on Bronx Science?

you don't have to. that's why most of them ended up there, b/c stuy didn't have enough room. (ouch) on the other hand, usually book-smart people lack a lot of other things, and you can see them in stuy--such as kids involoved in this article.
bronx science, '96. didn't like it that much. :P

This kid should be taken camping, you know? Get it out of his system...
