2010 Senate Run One Of Thompson's Possible Next Moves

After his surprisingly competitive mayoral bid against Mayor Bloomberg, there have been various rumors about what City Comptroller Bill Thompson might do next. First there were murmurs of a Senate run, and then ones that Andrew Cuomo was eyeing him as a running mate during for his gubernatorial campaign. Now the NY Times says the Senate run is just one of three options that Thompson is mulling.

The Times reports that he "is seriously considering challenging Senator Kirsten E. Gillibrand in next year’s primary elections, according to people who have spoken to Mr. Thompson and his advisers... He is also considering a run against the state comptroller, Thomas P. DiNapoli, in the primaries, or returning to the private sector for now and running again for mayor in 2013." (Wow, a Thompson-Weiner mayoral primary in 2013?)

Most of the article focuses on Thompson's Senate chances. Rep. Jose Serrano (D-Bronx) tells the Times, "I think the more the numbers keep coming out saying she’s vulnerable, the more people will try to figure out where she stands on the issues... I think Thompson would make a great candidate. He is a progressive voice that hasn’t moved one way or the other over the years, and people would respect that." The Times also points out "the White House might also be hard pressed to block Mr. Thompson after having already urged Mr. Paterson, New York’s first black governor, to drop out of the 2010 race." Plus, the White House had that tepid endorsement of Thompson for the mayoral race.

    "surprisingly competitive"????

Either you're saying I am a super-genius for saying ad nauseum for a year that Bloombag could easily be beaten(b/c it was OBVIOUS that Bloombag's poll numbers and "popularity" were cheated) (hell, Quinnipiac and Marist's numbers were 100% off in 2005 in favor of the Emperor, DUH)...or else you're saying Gothamist and NYorkers are nearly brain-dead imbeciles.

(DUH: we knew Bloombag was on thin ice the moment he started spending twice as much as he had in 2005.)

(DUH: we knew Bloombag was on thin ice the moment he overturned Term Limits.)

Of course, it is true that NYorkers are the dumbest humans in history, on thousands of levels. (EX: they pay MORE for less than anyone else in history.) (You pay huge rents in Tokyo and London, but people aren't being raped by the police there like here or being shot by stray bullets or dodging animal feces on the sidewalks or in the streets!)

FUN FACT: the ONLY reason they created cities is for EFFICIENCY OF SERVICES. It is cheaper to provide electricity, food, water, and all goods to NYC than anywhere else in America, b/c that's the WHOLE POINT of jamming people together tightly, DUH!

NYC should be the CHEAPEST place in America for everything from rent to Con Ed, based on cost, but you fools and suckers were CHEATED every step of the way b/c you are not remotely intelligent.

    Good luck with that.

You have NO IDEA what City Hall is doing behind your backs, suckers.

    (You snooze, you lose.)
