Conductor Not Surprised Boy Hid In Subways For Days

2009_11_fhen.jpg Yesterday, the NY Times reported on a 13-year-old boy with Asperger's syndrome who hid in the subway system nearly two weeks. Francisco Hernandez didn't want to go home, because he had gotten into trouble at school and was afraid of his parents' reaction, so he rode three different subway lines in four boroughs for 11 days in October. His mother says the police didn't do enough to find him, but a conductor told WCBS 2, "Supposedly this kid did not want to be found. It's pretty easy to elude us for quite a while. I'm not surprised."

Maybe he saw this movie:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kontroll

"The main character of the story is Bulcsú (Sándor Csányi), who spends his life in the Metro of Budapest, checking tickets. He eats and sleeps underground and never sees the sunlight."

Or maybe he should see it.

What did he eat and drink and how about going to the bathroom?

If you fall for... er, I mean, read... the story he used the restroom at the Stillwell Avenue station and bought food and bottled water for eleven days with the $10 he had with him when he left home. Kind of a loaves and fishes thing, I guess.

OF course there's more to it.
